I had a problem getting online via one of my PC`s this morning. The one by the bed    . As I`m sure you can all appreciate, this is a huge problem for me. I`ve had to sit up today, and it`s rapidly wearing thin. Even more disturbing, I have had tostandup, and walkacross the room to the other PC.
Anyway, BT diagnostics recognised there was a problem with my Proxies:shock:, so I guess I will be paying better attention to barrier methods in future, but no harm done, it was automatically fixed but......
I can connect to the net, but am getting the message `access denied by access control panel` when I try to connect to sites. I have no bloody clue what that means. I checked out the content security which is disabled, so it can`t be that. I tried the help system, but the links to take me to the relevent area don`t work, and neither does the `Dcomcnfg` run command which seemed like the thing to be fiddling with.
Any help would be much appreciated, before I become too familiar with my legs. confused
Thankyou

I agree. Definately a worn out keyboard problem. :P lol
No error code numbers or anything like that?
*suspects it's something to do with "hub" configuration, but not being an expert decides to keep quiet*
With the exception of krazykayaker, gee thanks guys  lol
I don`t know what `hub` is all about, but apparently neither does Microsoft help (no great surprise there then) so I shan`t beat myself up about it! :P

Had you done anything with the computers settings to lead you to a problem, or did this problem just appear out of thin air? confused:

Oh bugger.
This problem came out of the blue, although I have been downloading stuff. I don`t seem to have any viruses though.
TnH, I`ll need you number again, my last sim card died.

I think it was 408 but don`t quote me on it, I`d have to plug the net into the other PC to check.

It`s error 403, cept I can`t get into any website. I can update AVG, just can`t view any webpages

This sounds like a router config problem to me, often router manufacturers seem to be unsure what to call their products and sometimes call them Hubs, and sometimes even 'ADSL Modems'.
Whatever this is called, it's the box that is between the phone socket and the computer. Try reinstalling the software that came with this box, and doing whatever the instructions say you need to do to tell it to talk to your ADSL provider - which is what it currently seems not to be doing.
