There are pubs everywhere in Bath... we have a very high concentration of them... although we have very few clubs, and only a couple of good ones. Can't believe you couldn't find one!!!
What one was trying to say there Chris was that the only time I go to Bath is to watch my fave rugby team - which involves falling in and out of the nearest pub to the grounds smile

Well the clubs I was refering to (just to avoid any possible mis-interpretation), are music ones... and range from grotty basements to mildly downmarket. Some of the better ones are no match for the sort of club you would have in any other city.... this is partly due to the close proximity of bath to Bristol with its large all night clubs.
There are good places to go that play good music... but nothing that is stand out excelent
Hey Chris - shynewbie under diff name now!! What kinda music then? I Luuurve live music places!!! Learning to play bass at moment = but as I am tone deaf this is proving to be a challenge lol
But why shold that stop me?!!!!

Hmm well live music exists... mostly in the back rooms of pubs. Technicaly one of the clubs prides itself on live music... but as its also a grotty club renowned for its drug problem its not really worth visiting whatever acts they manage to con into playing there... I say con because the place can only hold about 30 people in the room where live music is played... I think most musicians would like a venue bigger than that.
The Jazz scene seems todo quite well...
Basicaly your looking at cheezzy pop... R+B hiphop shite... popular mix of everything on 10 minute rotation... or the best dance tunes in the gay nightclub with the shitty stone dance floor... basicaly your usual dross... Unlike say plymouth where you have supper clubs which pride themselves on musical integrity here you have clubs which pride themselves on getting you drunk.
Sorry to sound jaded... I love bath really, I just know better places to go for a boogie
ummm - is this an official hijack??? biggrin
Good music is good music. As a once a month Dj in a pub/club I know that sometimes what the DJ likes and what the DJ HAS to play are sometimes 2 very diff things!
By choice - Cha cha slide would NOT be on my play list!!! But "ahem" - I have to play it sad
What would be your choice then?
Personally I have a diff choice for every diff mod or variation of woman I am.

Well as a former occasional DJ (wow now there is a tenuous claim to fame), I would have to say whatever the crowd wants.... bearing in mind the crowd don't always know what they want and sometimes need to be educated!!!
My favourite clubbing times revolved around the Darude era of trance when you could loose yourself in the DJ's wicked ways... and the hanson era of cheezy pop... where one twitch of the DJ's hand would get the entire dancefloor jumping up and down to the same crazy lyrics. Mix all that together with some cool strobes and half naked sweaty women and you have a good combination.
Allas the rise of Hip Hop /R+B is not really to my liking.,.. I can pick out tunes I like, its just there aint enough of them. I like just about every other genre of music tho, so I figure I am allowed this foyble.
Agree with you that music policy is always in force in clubs... the one policy I really hate is the change genre every 10 minutes policy... its becoming popular because it means more people through the door cos they please all tastes... and it also means you get a trip to the bar break every half hour, just to ensure all cash leaves your pockets before the night is over.... I agree clubs are commercial ventures, but when they get to blatent about it they start treating their customers with a lack of respect. A good club is one where everyone goes because of the music and atmosphere, and the 10 minute / 3 track policy kills atmosphere (and wrecks my preference for 3 hour non stop dance sessions)
errr... moan over by the way redface surprisedops:
BTW Rainbow you have a lovely ad... and your a DJ tooo.. if only more DJ's were sexy women rather than fat old men ;)
Well, (when I go) I work in Bath. But everyone I work with, and they are all v. young and trendy, goes out in Bristol, as Bath is shite, apparantly.
Hey Chris - thanks for the compliment biggrin I do my best to please my audience/ Last thursday night of the month = female stripper night at the local gay club/pub - so we get a mix of lesbian women and bi blokes. And I just blew any cover I had!!!! Oh well -what the hell!!!! If anyone wants to know more - PM me.
And no Blue - no charge to get in!!! :D

Yeh thats how lots of people view it... which is why no-one wants to create a really good club here... plus all the really keen party people arn't around to lead the way of an evening.
Having said that... when the students are here, everywhere is full of people having fun... and its not all shite... its just really obvious that it could be better, if only club owners cared enough !!
