I'm off to get a tattoo on my birthday! Does anyone know if it hurts

You can buy the emla (think thats correct spelling) cream from the chemist, it's the stuff hospitals put on kids hands etc when having jabs. You only put it on for 20mins the effects last for a couple of hours. I'd like to get my tum piearced, so will prob use it......(yes I know I'm a chicken)... confused
I like clean shaven men but am getting more into tattoos, I have 3 myself now and I like piercings. although they hurt!
ive got one on my left forarm in japaneese saying andrew and it didnt hurt at all
Beards are great (but they need to be short, neatly trimmed ones are quite sexy on the right person, can't abide the grizzly Adams ones)
Tattoos are great too, both Kat and I have at least one each (of course his is bigger rolleyes )
I don't think they are painful at all, mine started off as a small one on my shoulder and I have added to it over the years (still not as big as Kat's though lol )
In my opinion, piercings are much more painful :scared:

Always worry about having Japanese, heard that one tattoo parlour has I am an idiot in Japanese on the wall, just for people who want something oriental but don't bother to find out what it means...
I myself am cleanshaven and favour aramis after each scrape.
as for tattoos, well I've had a fair few compliments, and yes it was painful - took 2 hours to complete the job, but it was worth it. cool
Have piercings also and didn't think they hurt either

Mmmmmmm, love the smell of aramis 8-)
Nice tattoo too bass wink
Unfortunately I have more tatoos than you can shake a stick at, most of which are over 20 years old and have faded with age especially the colours. The modern fashion for celtic designs mostly in black makes this less of a consideration however just be aware that they do fade with age.
I remember my dad had a huge eagle on his arm, it was sooooo smart and when he picked me up from school(was in primary one at the time) all my friends used to run up to see it!!! It however did fade as davej described!!! sad

thankyou for the compliment Kit, makes it all worthwhile. 8-)
When I had mine added to, or should I say - developed further? The lovely tattooist 'went over' the old one so that it was as vibrant as the new bits.
Very reluctantly, I have to admit; that it is my experience that they do fade with age
But - you can have them 'gone over' lol

Mines a small one...............does it matter??

:giggle:
Now youre taking that out of context
its a good job I,m a big enough boy to handle it wink
Strange i thought exactly the same, about it being a small one!!!
As for the tatto, wellif its the Love/Hate one on each hand, perhps youcan wear its some football initalls on your head you can wear a bag over your head (ok one of those pvc masks like a balaclava) if its i love my mum on your chest - forget it!!

unfortunately I havn't got that many years of life left to have all mine done again........mrs davej has done the same as you though kit, she has had hers added to and older bit touched in to make them blend better
well for the guys n gals that have met my menace he has a beard n tache mmmmmmm so yes i adore them but trimmed n modern not santa lookalikes lol
i also love tattoos on strong men but hubby doesnt awwww though he likes my cherub on my bum. it did hurt a bit the outline more than anything im still in technicolour though and its nearly 7 years old lol hope this helps a little
love peppsxxxx wink
beards - hmm - prefer smooth - but them I'm biased. Don't know many girls with beards confused Smoother the better. It scratches on your bits otherwise (sorry - oral girl here  )
Tattoos - big turn. Love 'em. Have two of my own. And no - they didn't really hurt - except when they went under my arm. That was "ouch" but not for long - and it was worth it - even if just for the blokes that go "ooh you had that almost all the way round - respect!" smile
Mr SXCouple - has a goatee beard, but not a long catweazle type one lol Has 3 tattoo's, all black, one at the top of each arm left arm has a mayan sun (designed by mrs SX), and right arm has a celtic knot.
The other is a huge one across the top of my back and shoulder (tribal design) that took 4 hours to do !!!!
Mrs SX - is clean shaven  and does prefer me with the goatee. Also has a small tribal tattoo at the base of her back

I hate seeing women with beards AND tattoos!! It's one or the other........... not both!! confused :? :? :? lol

I've just come to this thread late and was so going to do the same joke. Really must pay more attention !
Now, women with tattoos.......phew.....don't get me started. Amazingly sexy and up there with piercings in my book. I'm sure those of you who've met me in my "rock" mode really won't be surprised !
'Rock' mode??? Is that when you have an erection then ? lol

I was so asking for that sort of reply, wasn't I
Would have been even worse if I'd said "metal" instead ! If I'd said "Gothic" would you have imagined a gargoyle !
 that just makes me think of a doctor's speculum confused

Now I can see why you have the sig you have wink
There really were so many better ways to phrase my original admission, weren't there.

Awwww, Davej
Let me be the judge of that wink
I will inspect them all closely and then give you my professional interpretation of your long range forecast cool
If you can stay still long enough lol
I'm told I look good with about three days growth of beard, after that I just look like a scruffy bastard. Tried using the clipper thingy to maintain the right amount of stubble, but it's just too neat and '80s and George Michael for my liking. sad
I think the solution is to get a stubble tattoo. biggrin
