i have to say that ive been a little surprised by this thread.
having been to some half a dozen SH munches myself, i have to say that ive witnessed/engaged in a fair bit of groping/flashing . Not to mention the amount of snogging
maybe its not meant to happen, but it people dont define this as "playing"
i dont think that suggesting there have been sexual assaults there to be sensible or factual..... were the police involved?, were people convicted/formally cautioned? im not for one second saying these things should be allowed to happen or didnt just saying that with all the confusion this sort of suggestion doesnt help the site or the credability of its members.
Well i hope you all have a great, safe, and happy night biggrin :D :D :D :D
Sexual assault
(1) A person (A) commits an offence if—
(a) he intentionally touches another person (B),
(b) the touching is sexual,
(c) B does not consent to the touching, and
(d) A does not reasonably believe that B consents.
(2) Whether a belief is reasonable is to be determined having regard to all the circumstances, including any steps A has taken to ascertain whether B consents.
(3) Sections 75 and 76 apply to an offence under this section.
(4) A person guilty of an offence under this section is liable—
(a) on summary conviction, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or a fine not exceeding the statutory maximum or both;
(b) on conviction on indictment, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 10 years.

OK first things, I'm not trying to be snotty, or funny here. DeeCee I can see your point and it's a perfectly valid one, however I personally don't agree with it. I don't think that any behaviour which meets the above statement needs to be quantified by the judicial system to be referred to as an assault. Im my opinion the events happened, they meet the criteria therefore they are assaults and the police could be informed if the victim felt it warranted reporting.
All that attend the Munches are adults and should behave as such. Having a playful physical flirt with someone you know and consents is fine (just don't offend public decency ;) :lol2: ), but if anyone says no then it does mean NO! and it should be stopped at that point. If anyone makes the decision to carry on then it's their choice and they must face the repercussions of their actions. Simple as.
Oh and a note for tomorrow night, We want the night to be fun, friendly and relaxed and for everyone to enjoy themselves. We will wholeheartedly support any actions, by the individual or the venue, against anyone causing problems or making a nuisance of themselves.
Or in plain english, chill and relax, have fun and respect others and you'll have a great night. ;)
well said easy

i completely understand and dont take your comments to heart.......... they are right...bahaviour without consent can amount to an offence
however allegations are only allegations until proven (whether upon conviction or by admission).......

Just think of it as a night out with your mates.
Second thoughts, i don't know your mates or what they get up to on a night out so best treat it like a family wedding lol

For me this weekend will be my first munch, and I must say that I am getting both excited :bounce: :bounce: and nervous confused . I will be going with the mindset of meeting and chatting with a lot of friends I haven’t met yet. biggrin
Lilacgem has been to several munches in the past and has only good things to say about them. So we will be spending tonight putting a list together :notes: of people we particularly want to meet and for LG to introduce me to friends she already knows passionkiss .
So if and when any of you notice a very nervous vert2go hanging on to lilacs hand, please come over and say hello….
 :D

I think it needs to be made very clear that snogs, gropes etc at munches should happen with the consent of the people concerned.
<snip>
but I think it needs to be made a bit clearer that swingers are not necessarily all “free and easy”, and that most do not welcome the attentions of the wandering hands of total strangers, be they male or female.

Absolutely Mike, the first social we went to, there was a bloke with wandering hands, he soon got a slap round the head from curvy, that soon sorted him!!!
Like you said just cos we swing doesn't mean we don't have morals and limits. We just want to enjoy ourselves.

Perhaps I should have mentioned in my post this morning on this thread that the perpetrators of those three incidents of assault that happened at munches - all some time ago - were all banned from SH permanently, and none of them is around on the site now, as far as I know.

That’s good to know, and thanks Mike biggrin Lilac has been verbally assaulted and attacked in forum posts in the past with regard to attending munches. It’s good to know he was banned and not able to upset her anymore. :D

Sorry, but I don't think we're talking about the same thing.

No, I don't think it's the same thing at all. Probably not appropriate to discuss it on here anyway.
So much could be said on this subject..
I think everyone has a duty to show respect to anyone and everyone at a Munch.. As suggested.. if someone isn't happy with a situation a gentle word No should be taken as absolute Gospel.. No excuses whatsoever!
I know if anyone were to overstep the mark with mrs mdr I would not hesitate one second in saying there and then that enough is enough.. and to leave her alone. Trouble is by that stage she would have probably said enough herself lol..
Munch or not respectfulness and manners should prevail surely.. Ok have fun for sure, banter and playfulness can be a big part..
We have attended a whole heap now.. both from this and other sites never seen anything nasty happen ever.. Ok a few dodgy dresses maybe.. ok and a few very offensive dance moves even.. apart from we have had anything but good fun.. More to come soon too!!!

Can I just reiterate what Mdr has just said. There has been some bad behaviour, both at munches and socials but this is not a regular thing and is not soemthing that should ever put anyone off attending a munch. On the whole, the atmosphere is brilliant and people just have a brilliant time. As in all things, there is always one or two who act silly but this does not happen very often.

 those that have had problems (of any kind) have rarely let it put them off remaining in the community and attending the munches!
Ultimately they are fun, happy, friendly environments that when you leave, leaves you buzzing and wanting the next one to hurry up!

For those that have been munches beofre....do you/did you build up a mental image of someone in your mind, only to meet them and they be totally different to how you imagined them (physically wise I mean)
