Scissor Sisters are very refreshing...loads of good stuff but at the moment...Interpol, Mars Volta, Keane, Franz Ferdinand, etc etc
Going to see Paperchase this week at Colchester...
i forgot to mention Paul Rodgers he of Free and Bad Company , he has by far the best voice in the music industry very powerful and strong and clear . i also agree with zepsix about Carlos Santana he is awesome as is Gary Moore a very underated guitairist and songwriter and has anyone mentioned David Bowie the father of re-invention how good is he and where is Jimmi Hendrix how many of todays bands and artists has he influenced as well as along in the 60,s 70,s,80s and 90s .
im with roxn speedo here with the darknes its nice to see a les paul gibson being played properly for a change .(that's the guitair, i guess you all knew that anyway)
Oh yes. The Scissor Sisters cover of Comfortably Numb was... what's the word? An experience. Superb.
Look the best band in the world right now is the one and only COLDPLAY.
Having been to see them at earls court i can honestly say their music inspires me in everyway. Best tune "see you soon" truely amazing.
Anyway thats enough rambling on
MAGIK
The best band in the world has to be the Lostprophets. there stuff is so deep and has so much meaning, while also including qualitly riffs. they are closly follwed by the red hot chili's (got my ticket for the manchester gig!!!), and the legendary, blink 182
Not wishing to be nasty but Coldplay are really crap-if you like them listen to Echo & the Bunnymen the Darkness are neither big nor clever they are a one trick pony and pony is the operative word.
For sheer class I point to the following:
David Bowie
Belle and Sebastian
The Pixies
or if you have real class the following
The Jam
Jackie Wilson
The Velvettes
Tammi Terrell
Etta James
The Marvelettes
Oh I could go on all day...I have I yourselves a favour and buy a compilation called; the in crowd - 1958-1967 then you have heard music
looking through i have noticed moist also uses joy division lyrics in her postings.
Good shout anyone who likes similar music to me must be classy,i know I am 8)
Picking just one is too hard.
Mike and the Mechanics & Big Country (love driving to their music)
Genesis (with and without Gabriel)
Yes (Andersons voice is incredible)
Jean Michel Jarre (live concert at Docklands and he's joined on stage by Hank Marvin)
Joe Cocker (nuff said)
Chris Rea (just a master of his art)
Sadly, I can think of nothing from todays bands - Coldplay leave me cold
Paul
Not wishing to be nasty but Coldplay are really crap"(un-quote)

i cant believe people actually like coldplay there tedious, boring, there songs all sound so winey and on the wrong speed and they sound like a bad pink floyd cover band. how people listen to them i never know i always change radio stations when they are being played on radio that goes for travis as well absolute shite........
Sorry to pour cold water on this thread, but what gives certain members the right to call other people's tastes into question with generalistic and disparaging comments such as 'crap' and 'shite'?
This is addressed in particular to HornyLondon and SiGo. I've noticed that SiGo also did this with the British sitcom thread. So what if one person likes the Darkness or Coldplay and another doesn't? Does it really lower a person in your eyes if they prefer the Vicar of Dibley to Blackadder?
Come on, fellahs. Everyone has a right to personal opinion, but you have no right to disparage others' because they do not coincide with your own. By all means disagree as is your right, but do so constructively please.

music to me is a gift... i do not like every band or group but most have some contribution. music is something devine, from within, and expression. to listen and to appreciate is what matters. it is the lyrics, the structure of the sounds that accompany it, pure magic. best ones, lots and I think like football and cars, we all think X or Y are the best, but the fact is somewhere within our heads, we find ourselves sometimes whistling the very song from the group we dislike...the POWER of music
Did i mention ive taken up the guitar?!!..
Im so shite!. lol..help!..ha ha... dont get me wrong i like the strumming!.. its the getting in tune part that f**k's me!.
:P Magik
I'm sorry if offend or don't make great artistic statement as to why I dislike the things I like, I just don't believe in grey areas and I know it is lazy to just say -crap,shite etc. when describing point I make is light hearted and this probaly dosen't come across in type.
But I do believe in each to their own and I don't look down on somebody as a person due their choices in clothing, music and so on.I admit that probably these are areas that I am probably arrogant about but thats just because I feel strongly about them and am confident in my opinions of them.
I think I just like an argument
I didn't say arrogance is a virtue,in fact the point I was making is that the way I have that arrogance is a bad point of mine (as well as many others).
The point about liking an argument was just a bit of devilment hence the
No Ithink I was really trying to say SORRY
Just not good at it though (aren't all blokes)
