Just finished watching 13 Days a very credible film about the cuban missile crisis . I have to say it the tension of the situation was so excellently conveyed I could feel it.
Worth a watch

To compliment the worst film ever thread...
What are your fave films?
Mine are:
The Godfather Trilogy (with number 2 being the best)
The Departed
St Elmo's Fire (I know, but great lines and a great theme tune!!)
25th Hour
Wag The Dog
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
lots, lots more...

Without going through the whole thread my fav film was the Exorcist. A true horror movie even now, but in the 70's it caused a big stir. I can still watch it even now after seeing it so many times already.
ok, my faves (in no particular order after the first)
Lord of the Rings
Matrixes
Blades
Lethal Weapons
I could go on all day - far too many to pick, but cant not mention the simpsons movie!! ;)
not *best film*, but after seeing mention of Red October here earlier.. a film I agree is very very good, just thought I'd mention that right now Im watching U571
an Inigma, sub-switch WWII high tension festival.
excellant so far
lp
I love lots of the films already mentioned above BUT I LOVE lots of the old Black and White Bette Davis films i.e Old Maid, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane plus others where she plays a right old "bitch".
PLUS I think one of my fave B&W films has got to be An Affair to Remember with Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr -It's very corny but I just love it and still cry my eyes out at the end every time lol (showing my age now but who cares haha)
Bernie xx
Other favourites that I have just remembered:
An Officer and a Gentleman
Memento
The Machinist
The Generals Daughter
Billy Elliot
My Best Friends Wedding
The Wedding Singer
Girls Night - great film with Brenda Blethyn and Julie Walters but no-one I know has ever seen it!!!
Plus - what is that film with Danny De Vito where he is married to Bette Midler. She is kidnapped but he won't pay the ransom - its a great laugh that film.
I also like watching Gene Hackman, Denzel Washington and Danny Glover - amongst many others.
Am in a film watching mood now - so need to find one for later on today
lol

God Louise,
Can't believe I forgot The Untouchables, that should be in my top 5.
this is a tough one. I'd have to split it in to various genres
Best gangster = goodfellas
Best sci fi = star wars 4
Best british comedy = life of brian
Best animated = shrek
Best spoof = airplane
Best family film = goonies
This list could go on for yonks
Sexy Beast.
I just love his lifestyle in Spain.
The manner that it is perfect with no worry.
Just has a ball with his friends & is deeply in love with his wife.
Then all hell breaks loose with him trying to save 'his heaven whilst being in hell'.
Amzing performances from Sir Ben Kingsley & Ian McShane both play very dark roles that are amazing.
Also an orgy plays a major role in the flim... rolleyes
got to be the ghost train 1940's film with arthur askey
