Forgive me, because I haven't posted for a long long time, but I am totally shocked by this thread - regardless of how good each act is or what their intentions are, ultimately they are performing for a very very important cause and I think that we should all be remembering that rather than be finding reasons to criticise.

yes i agree and i have not commented on each act and who is better than who but u have 2 admit that to use something like Live8 to plug a song and tell the world to buy you new record (or whatever it was she said) is a bit naff, its supposed 2 be done to raise awearness not to plug your new record so u have 2 wonder wether her intention was purly unselfish when she agreed to do it

confused :? :? :? :?
Didn't post it twice.
Maybe some kind MOD wanted to make sure my point had come across.
Maybe the system is fucked.
Who knows.
Anyway...Rock on...

Nope, no kind Mods reading your threads. Only way that can be done is if you do it. Maybe you'd like to delete it??

hopefully i am allowed to put this up... if i am not allowed a mod will probably tell me off so i apologise in advance

please sign up... it is for a good cause.. and the more pressure we put on the G8 countries to do something....

Good idea but I don't think it will make much difference.
If Bob Geldof had that attitude we wouldn't be sitting here watching the Live 8 concerts now would we wink
Have a little more optimism!
hear hear
and i am glad the other 200,000 people in edinburgh this afternoon didn't have that attitude... i felt it was something i wanted to do, and i will go on Wednesday if i can get the time off work.....
one person may not make a difference.... but if you add all them "one persons" up, it will be something that they have to look at and take notice...

But surely normal people can just block that out and not dedicate a thread to who is BEST - that is not what it is about.
For me, that is it, Robbie and Bon Jovi.
Now I need urgent help, I need their phone numbers............. who can help me..........
Just want The Who and Pink Floyd, then I will be happy

I'm not watching cos I'm not the slightest bit interested in it, so I can't comment on the performances, but I can say that whilst 'it' may not be about who is best, this thread is and in that I can't see anything wrong.
i thought peter kay and that roadie were going to come to blows!!!! smile :) :)
i know he was time filling but made me giggle them all singing amarillo....
sean
cant wait to see the who and pink floyd biggrin .i wonder why they have been put right at the end of the show rolleyes .maybe becauce they could wreck the stage throwing the guitars through the speakers rotflmao :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

the who are rocking!!!

Yep lost none of their old magic
Nice to see the flag flying as well!
Actually NO money is being raised by the concerts - even the banner above the stage says 'we don't want your money, we want you'.
The Who still ROCK... takes me back more years than I care to admit to!!

Robbie was brill
smile :) :)
the who are rocking and even better than we could have hoped  what a fantastic set but well done to all the acts that have given up there time to make this event we dont like em all but its not about that is it.a fantastic nite spent in on a saturday blimey we dont get many of them and we still got the mighty floyd on soon
I thought Elvis was fecking Ace! - way to go Elvis.
What a feed of shite the whole ethos of the event is, kidding on people are interested in what goes on in the third world, yeah right - they just wanna boogie in the park! I mean, jeeezus, we're almost a third world country ourselves
If live aid / band aid were sooooo effective, why are they doing it all over again? because as always, any money raised gets wasted away and salted off by those who don't need it anyway...............!
If you think writing off their national debt will have ANY effect on the poor starving bastards, you're sadly mistaken. No money for a bowl of rice, but how big a fleet of bullet proof Mercs do you want?rolleyes

They had their first No. 1 40 years ago ... FORTY years ago and look at them rock!
WOW is all I can say!
I played 'who are you' recently in my car when giving a young colleague a lift and he only knew it cos it's the theme of CIS - and had the cheek to ask me who was singing.

Whenever I watch The Who, i'm always disappointed, cop all the dirty looks they give each other.
Mind you, I think they are doing "wont be fooled again" hope they dont spoil it!

I take it back - they were great!!

actually i'm glad u said it first lol
the saddest thing is the only reason these countries are in the mess they are in is cause of THEIR goverment, they are NOT poor countrys their goverment just choses to spend the money on fire arms etc instead of their own people and whats even sadder is they tax the money that is send into their country to feed their people b4 they ever see it!!
In all fairness, throughout the whole day and evening the empahsis has been on that this time around it's about raising awareness not money.
Even if people don't want to pay attention or don't care about the third world - and are just out for a free concert of all their fave celebrities - they're still being made painfully aware by all the short films and stuff that keep being shown, and all the artists have their say too.
It's kind of hard not to pay attention. And at the end of the day, even if the concert touches ONE person, it's still done it's job

WHO are you kidding? You saying that the t-shirts and the merchandise is FREE?

sorry but also have to agree lol
was all the text messages free that u had 2 send to get a ticket? they cost and about 5 million people sent for 1!!!
Why dont we use this thread to talk about the bands?
Perhaps start another about the political issues!

I've not had a problem
