For my money, the Floyd did a set that sounded almost note-perfect. Not exactly easy to do if you haven't played with the other guys for the best part of 15 years. Much respect, etc.
The Who... I'm still shocked that they played the full version of Behind Blue Eyes - I was wondering how that high pitched wail towards the end would come out, but it sounded great to me. Notice Daltry's mike was really taped to the cable....the rodies know of his 'mike swinging' habit! Ahh.. memories!

the who are a fantastic group but sadly never had a number one single  hell knows why they made some gr8 tunes

Maybe because most Who fans bought the Albums?

No point, really; the singles market wasn't the right medium for them. They did release some - how else would they have got into jukeboxes in Croyden Cafe's otherwise?
I've never bought a single in my life, but I own the better part of 400 LP's and CD's - do they even make a CD single? I have no idea!
Robbie he's the one

So what is everyone's favourite performance at Live 8 so far?
- Stereophonics for me - storming effort! The less said about Pete Doherty the better......
Interesting generation gap here... Most people over 40 cheered for the Floyd and the Who, and most people under 30 went mad for Robbie Williams.
I watched part of the show in a student-friendly pub, and the concert didn't get much attention from the patrons (most of them about 20yo) until they heard the first notes of 'Angels' - then all of a sudden they were all singing along like crazy
The Who elicited polite appreciation mostly centred around the fact that they were still able to put a physical performance 'at their age' rolleyes
Thomas-
I'm listening the Live8 concert from Murrayfield via the web... most singers only allowed to sing 1 song but it's still running an hour over. Good listening though!
lol
Oh! At last.. Snow Patrol
biggrin :D
From the other Live 8 - Mariza. I'd never heard of her but her voice is one of the best in the universe.
Jezzay.
