Hehe... I had a hand made rosette that looked very much like it said "No. 3 Mum".
The then Mr Lovely and I looked at one another and just shook with silent hilarity, desperate not to hurt daughter-in-chief's feelings. She hadn't been writing very long.
I wore it all day. "Look! I'm an inadequate mother!"
When I was about 11, I bought my mum a dishmop ... well, it's the thought that counts isn't it?

When my brother and i were ickle (i was about 8) we kept asking mum what she would like for Mothers Day. Her reply in the week leading up to the day was always "A little bit of peace and quiet".
Come the big day we dutifully presented mum with her card and gift. A small box, filled with cotton wool and written on the bottom "A little bit of peace and quiet - we love you", then we crept away. Think that present lasted all of about an hour after which my brother and I were at each others throats again (well she only asked for a little bit after all lol)
To this day she still has that box
The best present I receive each year from my son who is now 6, is a huge hug, a kiss and "I love you mummy" - its better than any shop bought present in my eyes
this year my son got me choccies and a card and is spending the day on kettle duty lol
and he says he just wants mummy time and gave me the biggest bestest hug of all time and said i love you mum ... i filled up
best thing is he is 11 going on 12 but today he is 11 going on 35 lol poor lad has hardly moved out of the kitchen from the kettle area bless him and not 1 complaint in making any brew i have asked for
