Best Scottish Bant / Artist. If we are talking most records sold, quickest No 1, massive fan club, screaming fans at airport, whole new fasion trend. C'mon guys, dont say you have forgotten ......................................................................................................... THE BAY CITY ROLLERS.
Hope someone will still speak to me after this. redface
Tony
Bye bye baby goodbye.......
ok taxi for Ant... redface surprisedops:
Just back from the Trash can Sinatras,,,,,,,,,,what a lovely band they are. I dont normally go for that kind of music as Iam more into my rock and roll but I have got to say that these boys certainly know what they are doing when it comes to putting emotion into a song, Highly recommended.

shurely shome mishtake magik ? the singer sounds to be a local leeds lad if ever i heard one? dunno
surprised at no mention of Teenage Fanclub? playing A Catholic Education live was something to see, as they stamped their claim as grungey rockers, but the next album was miles away in terms of tone and melody. damn good albums
course your real scottish hero would have to be Bobbie Gillespie. despite all the physical abuse he's put himself through, he can still knock out inspiring, soaring songs with the crowd dancing and chanting a long. awesome live band! smile he shouldn't be able to perform at all with his intake, but still pours so much energy into the songs. quality stuff.
neil x x x ;)
John Martin, Martin Taylor, The Bluebells, Texas, Gun.....
rod stewart and his wheels of steel
Been told to say by his laziness
'It's the Blue Nile, no comprimise, no alternatives, the thread ends 'ere!'
There ya go! lol

Not without mentioning The Sensational Alex Harvey band you don't.
BTW, Rod Stewart just wishes he was Scottish. ;)

NOOOOOO!!!!!.....I have bad memories of walking around dressed like that redface
My all-time favourite scottish band were a punk/metal band from the late 80's/early 90's called the Leprous Allsorts. Totally different from everything else that was around at the time, they sould have been massive, but they just seemed to dissapear overnight confused
Other bands that I remember from that time were "Dunderfunk", "Goodbye Mr McKenzie", "Crocodiles in Cream", and "Swamptrash". Of all of them, the only success story has been of the former keyboard player and backing singer from Goodbye Mt McKenze, who went onto become Shirley Manson, lead singer of the popular beat combo called "Garbage"

I've just gone off you!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've just seen this - what a gross slur! I've a good mind to declare this week Proclaimers Week in Swinging Heaven!
Sorry this is a few days late, but as the boys themselves wrote:
"But you know our sense of timing, We always wait too long."
lol
Mike.
I thought Runrig :violin: and Cocteau Twins :borg: and Incredible String Band :silly: were all amazing in their day but wouldn't like to be seen dead listening to them now . . . unless I was very inebriated and indulging in loadsa gushy sentimentalia of course . . .  which can be quite good occasionally
I think Snow Patrol, if we count them as adopted Scots, are not bad in a Savage-Garden-it-all-sounds-a-bit-the-same kinda way. I must admit I have bought one of their albums (but it was reduced to a fiver I think :gagged: )
Trash Can Sinatras still kick ass a wee bit but are well past their prime, and Travis should really have had the decency to lie down and die with a bit of dignity the way (sadly) Jesus and the Mary Chain or Goodbye Mr Mackenzie did long ago. Although they did contribute a nice track to the fabulous Garden State soundtrack . . .
Most of the good bands play in small clubs and you forget their name by the next day cos you were so wasted. Then there's usually an all too brief period when they get famous and you can buy their record before they sell out to commercial interests.
Local Edinburgh club you can always stand and listen outside before buying a ticket. In Glasgow you just turn up at King Tuts and there's usually something worth hearing (as opposed to Barrowlands where you've probably got the tshirt first (and all the Idlewild albums flipa ), or SECC, where your mom has probably got the tshirt)

THE BLUE NILE
Right here's a good one then , those "aussie" rockers AC/DC ..... well the original 3 guys in the band all came from fife / central scotland ( Angus and Malcom Young are dunfermline I think ) but moved to australia when they were young so "technically" one of the top selling rock acts ever are Scottish rofl.
i'll get me leathers i'm leaving lol
