I would never use AOL now. It naffed my old computer and this nice new one works a treat, with no AOL on it.
Google seems to be one of the best and does for me.
google you cant beat it wink
I don't think you can beat . It's a power interface to Google which lets you use all the hidden bells and whistles.
Having been on the net since before search engines and to find anything one had to use such archaic methods (all command line stuff, no internet access from Windows in those days) as Archie and Veronica. Then eventually AltaVista appeared and everyone used that. Then started to take over the crown with its human reviews of websites. Then on the horizon arrived DejaNews (which was a search engine and archive for Usenet) which eventually morphed into Google. At this point Mr William Gates esq. wanted in on the fun with MSN Search. Meanwhile there were lots of little specialised search engines like Ask Jeeves etc, but most of them just used search engines within search engines and they were all pretty naff.
But after 15 years of searching I still reckon Google is the mutt's nuts. It's graphically simple, there's not much to confuse people. you can do really simple searches or for the experts you can do searches with full boolean logic. You can even do conversions (type "what is 72.5 miles in kilometers" into Google to see an example).
So my money's on Google.

Mainly use google.. if I want a really extensive search depending on what I want I may use a variety.

Altavista was the first engine I used. At the time it was reckoned to be much better than Google, but the world's moved on since then. Out of nostalgia I just popped over to Altavista. It looks similar but I noticed it all points to now. :-(

I haven't used AltaVista in years, but there was a cracking warez search engine called AstalaVista which I used regularly. It seems to have gone crap over the last two years or so though sad
Google, and I took off the child lock thingy the other days! (no kids here) and it was suprising what type of photos suddenly came up!! lol
Including an interesting one with an avocado!!
Google is good, but I mostly use Copernic Agent Basic - - It has the advantage that it stores your searches so you can come back to them later and also orders the results in what it thinks is the most effective order. You don't need to make it the default search engine, or download the toolbar - just have it as a desktop icon, and set it up to open a new window for the results -- that way it doesn't "take over" your browser.
Its just depence, what u lookin for.
Have few engines in ff and just juggle them.
for movies, wikipedia for science or persons or...other, Google for rest ;)
