very valid and sound advice
how can u clone a number, ive had really strange numbers recently - some tried phoning me with this prefix of a number 07028............... I tried calling it back - it said it was an erorr and texting it caused the text to fail. does anyone know what this is?
If you come across ads ON HERE that ask for you to ring premium rate numbers or after first contact they ask you to ring a premium rate number, then either click 'report this ad' or report the profile of the member to the Mods. Even if just a bit suspicious, report it. It helps build up a pic of the person and gives them evidence to act.
Ultimately it's for your benefit.

This sounds like bullshit to me. Stay away from premium numbers, but no one can 'clone' your phone number, the technology simply doesn't work like that.
Edit: I mean cloning through just having your number. It is possible to clone mobile phones, but it's a LOT more complex than that and I'm not even sure if it IS still possible.
they can clone credit cards, finger prints, rental scans etc all they need is to clone ur sim card
Yes, it used to be with the analogue mobile phones they where easy to clone, but that was a long time ago then everyone moved over to the digital mobiles which at the time you couldnt clone, but now days you can clone digital ones as well.
I have two phones and so two numbers I only ever give my number out to people i want to have it and in that case i get there number as well, I never then answer an Private Number call on my mobile .
I someone has my number and i dont have theres then i dont know them so i dont answer the phone.
I've posted this somewhere else. And I'm not sure it's relevant to this thread but it might be useful.
My ordinary landline phone rings. As soon as I answer the phone goes dead. 1471 gives the calling number as an 0870 number. It did it this morning and it has done it maybe hlf a dozen times in the last two or three weeks.
I have never rung it back because I read somewhere that it can be a ploy to get me to ring back and incur huge phone charges.
Just a thought. Just an experience.

Telemarketing companies use a computer to dial numbers from a list, and if answered, then connect to a call centre worker who will talk to you. If all the workers are otherwise engaged at that moment, the phone will immediately go dead as there is no on to talk to you. Hence a large number of 'silent' phone calls, mainly from numbers beginning 08
If all someone needs to clone a number is to have the number - why bother asking for your number - why not just make numbers up????? They are bound to strike lucky.
our sons a computer wiz
hes into developing that sort of stuff
