I for one have of late not posted purely down to some self righteous people that jump in on a whim and try to do as they always do, try ridicule and dominate!
I have no doubt in my mind these same people will respond to this post.
But in reality, you are effectively not only killing the forum, but putting people off posting.

I will hold my hands up and admit that I was involved in the locking of a recent thread. In my defence, I have never intentionally (or to my knowledge) slagged anyone off or made personal comments to offend anyone in the forums or chatrooms. I am not part of any 'cliques' and so I am hoping that you are not aiming the above comments at me.
I don't post anywhere near as much as I used to as there are certain individuals who intentionally try to rub people up the wrong way and twist their words. The forum is no longer a nice place to be because of this.
I have 3 children of my own, I don't need to spend time on here with children too!

I have to say I do keep looking at this thread and there are a few things that keep jumping out at me that make me laugh.
Self righteous, ridicule and putting people off posting - Those are just three things that describe this post more than any other I have read.
I think part of the problem (in some cases) is the longer people stay on a site the more they see at as theirs. Their sense of ownership and belonging grows, though of course the individual will never see it as that. You are not kidding me that the cliental on this site is that far from that on any other, the difference is your perception and possibly the amount of people using the site.
If it is so frustrating then why keep reading? If the only joy that can be had from a thread is that it has been closed then why post?
“In my view” no one is going to change how people are and how they interact with each other. Maybe if people can’t see a thread for what it is and things are so bad that a mere internet site is getting them riled then perhaps the only option is to leave?
Now I know that response is probably not going to be received too well so perhaps it should be put in the “jumping in on a whim category”.

One thing thats interesting to note is views to posts. The amount of views always far out weights the posts often ten fold or more. So the threads are apparently interesting as the views are always high yet people dont post. So no idea on that.
Intereting question. Do non registered surfers with no account at all notch up a view when they look at a thread?

if you did a post saying hello. with no one else writing. it still get loads of looks. it don't mean people are interested in it. just they are nosy

At the time of writting this thread had 19 posts (not including this one) and 11 contributors. Ive forggoten the view count but its over 300. When I divided the view count by the amount of contributors the contributors would have had to have visited 36 times each to make up views alone. Safe to say others are looking though would think its also safe to say its probably 90% previous/present forum users and a few nosers
