from an employer point of view,if you are interviewing a lot of people, you are generally looking for someone who stands out from the crowd by that I mean someone who is going to bring that little bit extra.
size will matter I `m afraid dependent on the work, but not necessarily.
I have employed all shapes and sizes through the years, so don`t be downhearted , the right job will come to you.
a bit of advice always look and take a positive attitude away from every interview, look upon all interviews as interview experience. obviously try to look as if every interview you attend is the most important , the interviewer will pick up a lot from your body language etc.........above everything remain positive you will succeed biggrin

thanks
will take all advice sometimes i think because i am concious about my size that others pick up on it. it does get a bit deflating sometimes when one knock back after another comes my way plus theres only so many times you can clean a flipping house before you get seriously fed up (also explains why im always on here lol).

It sounds to me like you may be in a bit of a catch 22:
You're lacking confidence so people knock you back which then makes you feel even less confident.
The best advice I can give is get a few people to have a look at your C.V. Ideally:
a) I a friend who will point out the stregths in you that you don't have the confidence to see
b) Someone you know who works in recruitment who has been involved in the recruitment process in their line of work. They'll be able to tell you what they look for/dislike on C.V.s
Also, if you know someone who has interviewed prospective employees in the past, ask them to do some mock interviews with you. I have done this for friends in the past and as well as giving them pointers it also helped to desensitise the fears they had about going to an interview.
One last point I would make is that you have said that you just want to get a job and anything will do. If prospective employers pick up on that, they may think it's not worth employing you as you're likely to leave soon after taking the job for something better.
Hope that helps, but feel free to pm me or post here if I can be of any other help.
Good luck wink
thanks for the advice everyone. i am quite a nervous and shy person especially in front of strangers you know the type end up saying something totally wrong etc, last job i had was running a store for a well known company in the nw and they let me down badly so i think it is a lot of confidence building required again. i know my size has prevented me getting certain jobs but hey their loss not mine.
love and thanks to you all again,

I am a size 18 too and was actually asked in an interview if i exercise! I am a lot fitter than many of my younger, slimmer friends, just fatter, that's all.....
Thanks for a good thread.
Im a size 24 large girly and im in the process of finding a new job, so this has been quite interesting.
My size was something that would worry me when i eventually walk into a interview but after reading this, i really dont think it will be a issue. My main worry now would be making sure i do my very best, and if i dont get one job, theres plenty more out there. biggrin
I know I'm going slighty off topic (I think!) but I just wast to echo some comments that have been said about it's more about confidence than size.
When I was 19 I went down the pub with my sister, I was a size 10 (those were the days) and my sister was a size 16 at the time. Anyway I'm telling you this because I noticed that for most of the evening she got 99% of the attention. I was very shy and self-conscious whereas my sister was confident and chatty.
My sister got the attention because of her persona and I got ignored because of the 'vibes' I gave out. It was nothing to do woth how we looked.
Needless to say I got over my teenage angst and I'm a gobby cow now! biggrin

I totally agree babes, i have always had confidence. Not because i am full of myself or anything, just that i believe smiles are contagious and a positive attitude can overcome or achieve almost anything!!!
I am aware that my cleavage has a social awareness all of its own.. but that has never bothered me nor hindered me!!!

Oh goody.. i'm sure they would love to meet you!!!!!! :passionkiss:
I know you might not be going for this type of job so this most of this might not help
but
The job i'm doing now i actually applied for twice before because i really wanted it but failed sad
I had gone each time smartly dressed, shook there hand and everything i could think of but no go they just didn't want me there mad
On the 3rd and last time Tony said to me to try going in casual cloths and try to at some point have a laugh with them
Well i did, i went in jeans and a t-shirt managed to get them laughing and they took me on there and then
The told me after the interview that the main reason i got the job was not because i could do what they was seeking but because i have a sense of humor so i would fit in well with the rest of the teem and also because i didn't go looking all posh i wouldn't mind getting my hands dirty lol
Still there now....... Fork lift driver
Shaz x
Glad the job's working out Shaz! smile
I've got interviews coming up for jobs that I've not got in the past. I had the experience and qualifications, but the feed back I got was that I forgot to talk about things, I tried to say too much and I was too nervous.
I think that the key in future will be to remember to smile, have some short prompt notes for confidence and try not to worry so much neutral
Good luck to anyone doing interviews, except the competion!

I have to agree with Feebs . Both the original post and some of the replies to it are displaying a lack of self confidence that will show through to any decent interview panel. Perhaps consider some professional course help to reinforce it .
