I am sort of with Lostie on this one Why?, these scienctists are great people but I would prefer they use their talents to cure cancer, MS etc and not bring back excintict spiecies that actually serve no real purpose.

Woolly Mammoths, are skinned, not plucked. Think mammoth rug in front of the fire!
They can be released on the tundra, where being knew, they will threaten the nature already there.
...but think, how many new chemicals they will produce, who knows how useful they will be?
...on the other hand, being several thousand years out of date, they will not have immunities to modern germs. So they should start dropping like flies. Very big ones.
If people make so much fuss about gm food, why the hell do they want to mess around with dead dna?
although very big they do look kinda cute!!!!!
we have enough trouble with foxes around here at the moment.

Woolly mammoths don't need to be cloned. As any student of the great Hugo Rune will testify, they are neither extinct nor thousands of years old. The woolly mammoth is in fact a creature that lives underground and is intolerant of sunlight. Please note the tusks for shoveling and the lengthened proboscis for breathing in support of this observation. Scientists have made the simple mistake of assuming that land slips have uncovered frozen remains thousands of years old which, when you think about it, borders on the fantastic. The truth of the matter is that the landslides uncover a living beast which perishes in the sunlight and is then frozen.
