i dunno i was given the program so i can email it you... its quite a naff program but it works lol
JGL
Oh JGL should I be worried and can I have it too?
Dawn :silly:
That's interesting! Tell us, then!
I block people for all sorts of reasons. Quite often I only come online to speak to one particular person - especially if it's 'cos of IT probs or I'm only online for a short while - so don't want everyone else popping up just 'cos they're not busy at that moment in time and want to say hi.
No one ever takes any notice if my status is away or Busy so it's just easier to block everyone but the person I need to talk to.
I sometimes block if I'm expecting email and I want messenger to tell me when its in.
I rarely use MSN to chat with dunno
Dawn :silly:
i found a useful feature on MSN 7. you can sign in as offline..
its quiet handy as well
JGL
But if you sign as offline then no one can contact you at all - is that right?
Which is why I prefer . You can be invisible but select certain people you appear visible too - either some of the time or all of the time. It is much more flexible than MSN in that respect. And you don't need to block anyone - unless you really want to.

there is that point.. but at least you can do "selective" tempoary blocking. then switch to Online once your ready to chat to who you need to
JGL
Same here Judy. I unblock as and when.
Venusxxx
Yip that's what I do.
Everyone on my contacts list knows I block them. They either email or pm me to check if I'm online for a chat on msn. I unblock them if I do have time for a chat or send them a quick mail back explaining why not.
No problems :P
Well, as not as far as I'm aware.....
Gawd that is kak more invasion of privacy! I do sometimes block people but neverpermenantly just because I dont always have time to talk to everybody and also cant do more than 2-3 conversations at once! rolleyes
OMG - I didn't know anyone from here used messenger! I've been here a year and I've never had a conversation with anyone from SH on messenger! See, Sarge, this is what I mean by being on the fringe of things here....
lol
Mike.
JGL I wouldn't worry about being blocked too much to be honest.
I blocked one of my mates a couple of nights ago. He works in IT and was constantly logging off and logging on. Very annoying when you're trying to concentrate. mad :x :x
So he got blocked to stop the pop-up and the announcement I have when someone logs in.
*easy goes off to unblock so his mate doesn't get the hump.*

I can confirm that Dawn doesn't use MSN very often............................. smackbottom :smackbottom: :smackbottom: :smackbottom: :smackbottom: :smackbottom:
I doubt if it is reason to be offended if you are blocked on a persons contact list. I block pretty much everyone appart from the person I have arranged to talk to and a few really close friends. I even have my relatives on block(mainly so they don't see an inappropriate display pic  )
If the vast majority of cantacts were not blocked, I'd never get into the forum or get to have the conversation I want to have with the people I am meant to be having it with.
What I do though is unblock people a few at a time to say hi and keep in touch if I haven't seen them around, either in person or in SH (chatroom/forum/pm).
You should only be offended if you have been deleted!

I've just read this as being in the fridge instead of being on the fringe. I think I spend too much time on my PC my eyes have gone gone gone.
I don't use MSN much but if you are on then please feel free to say Hi on there. Of course I'm always invisible so you won't know I'm there confused So I'm not sure how that will work :? Plus once I have added anyone they will be on block :? So not much chance for chatting then :?
Cheers
CQ - too chatty

Well, thanks anyway celtic...you are the hot buttered toast of SH!
Mike.
I don't even bother with MSN, ICQ, Y or AOL messengers any more now, since I discoverted Trillian. It's one independent program which combines the whole lot together. And it's still free! -
It's got all the usual privacy settings and because it's not got the usual Microsoft or programming behind it, it's less vulnerable to the hacking attempts of the unscupulous.
I used to use trillian but it hates this laptop so i use MSN now ... I rarely use and as I only have one person on here on there (apologies Dambuster) I rarely turn it on.
I block a lot of people on MSN - those I rarely chat with / wish to avoid and those who turn into pests and msg me permanently. My msn is often on permanently and I'm makred as away, offline etc.
C xx
I also block people who add me to msn without doing the decent thing and introduing themselves - some people have obvious emails - others don't and I block until I know who they are!
If you block someone on MSN, do you appear offline to those people?
Yip if you block someone on MSN u always appear offline to them.
Dont know if anyone else has noticed but on if you log in as invisible it shows you as online first then a second or so later marks u as offline ....means u get spotted before you get the invisible cloak on!!

Yes.
On another point... another reason I started putting everyone on block was my settings are such that I don't see msn if I have a full screen programme running. I got fed-up of saying sorry to people for what they thought was me ignoring them, when I actually couldn't see them or in some cases wasn't even in the room.
