OK, well I am really really into reading just now. I have just finished reading the Daivd Pelzer series. I have lots of books at home but I keep giving them all to people because Ive read them all. I need to find a good book to read but most of the books people have suggested I've either read or are not my type.
Can anybody suggest any good books and/or where to get any good books?
Naughty - you are doing 780 posts a day you surely have no time for reading books anymore!
I can recommend 1 to avoid if at all possible: Intermediate Economics: A Modern Approach
I've been ploughing my way through it for the last 9 weeks, still no further on!!
Flirty, if I had a good book to read I wouldnt be posting as much but I have been looking around and havent seen one that takes my fancy yet.

Hard to point you in the right direction of your literary quest without a few pointers as
to what you are looking for ?
Action ?
Adventure ?
Romance ?
Fiction ?
Comedy ?
or just a door stop !

So did you get the feeling that he embroidered onto his life experience or where you happy to accept his circumstances as he relays in his books?
Catch 22 (damn funny)
The Godfather (fascinating, not really violent, very good on sex)
The Alchemist (truly inspiring)
The Camomile Lawn (excellent, loads of sex)
If you like books written for teenagers... Northern Lights (one of a trilogy) & one of the best books I've read in years.
Got loads more coz I'm a bit of an addict. Let me know if you want to know the authors. biggrin
Take yourself off to the local library tomorrow (or mobile library if there's one)
Plenty books there to keep u occupied, they may even be grateful to have some of the books u have read donated to them

Ive just read the David Pelzer series too, isnt that guy amazing, what he went through as a child, through to manhood. Amazing and a testament to the human character.
Ive just finished reading (when in hospital having wisdom teeth out  ) So Me by Graham Norton, fairly easy reading, but quite funny and good if you dont know anything about his background, as i didnt.
The Curious incident of the Dog in the Nighttime (or summat like that)
A Handmaids Tale - Margaret Atwood - not what I would have picked up, thinking it sounded 'girlie' but it is not.... damn good read.
The DaVinci Code - bet you've read that one already tho.
Ooh i'm a right bookworm
Hunter S Thompson Biography - can't for the life of me think of the name at the moment
Galapagos or SlaughterHouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut
Absolutely anything by Glen Duncan
Human Stain Philip Roth
The Liar Stephen Fry (so, so funny)
Billy Pamela Stephenson
Brave New World Aldous Huxley

Which means people who don't know what you're into can't be relied on to make useful suggestions.

See above.
I can't believe that everyone is so dismissive of reading!! Apart from sex and laughing it is probably the most fulfilling thing that you can (although grinding your opponent into the mud when playing rugby is quite satisfying!!). I can't tell you what books to read as i don't know your thing but can offer one piece of very good advise. Don't read Salman Rushdie ever - he probably deserved to be single out by the muslim world but for crimes against literature rather than any perceived religious sleight, and never ever read geoffrey archer becouse he is an arsehole!!!

Must be honest - i thought the first two were ok, but then he got a bit irritating in the "a Man called Dave" Iknow he had a dreadful childhood but was ther any need for the constant reminders and how good he's made hislife.
The most disturbing thing about "A Child called It" was the fact the his was the THIRD worst case of child abuse known in California - jesus the first and second ones must have been horrific.
I'm a relatively new reader, but i can't stop buying books now, my fav one was P.S I love you by Cecelia Ahern (girlie one yes)
But if anyone has read the FPC1 book, could you give me a hand. My exam is in January and the first chapters are soooo boring

Funny, being more than a little familiar with the *first* child case in SA I still find his story hard to believe dunno

The Curious incident of the Dog in the Nighttime

This book is fantastic, if you know nothing about autism this will give you a better idea of how the autistic mind works. It's amusing but tragic, I found it completely fascinating. It's not a book about autism though, it is more about the boy and his life and how he learns to understand what is going on around him.
I might respond if I had an idea what sort of thing you like but in the absence of that I don't want to suggest something that is not your type. confused :?
I can read anything apart from stuff like that Star Wars crap, so anything suggested should help a bit, hopefully
Memoirs of a Geisha was a cracking read and the first ne that comes to mind, but like its been said, let us know what kind of stuff you like thatll help a little more biggrin
I can vouch for 2 books (well in my opinion i thought that they were good).
Lenny Mclean - The Guvnor
Roy Shaw - Pretty Boy
I also liked some of Irvine Welsh's books - The Acid House
The Football Factory - thats not a bad book either.
Ur right there Scandal.
But since when did a bit of crap hurt anyone?
Just my opinion

The Guvnor and Pretty Boy are classic books - funny how both of them say they were undefeated yet fought each other a couple of times!!! confused

In 2003 in Florida, a man was struck on the head and killed by human excrement which had been ejected from an aircraft lavatory and froze on the way down. Ironically, the man was working in a convenience store at the time. confused
Well, if you like well written books with a deep psychological (often sexual) undertone - I could go no further than recommending anything by Iain McKewan. Atonement is my favourite. They are making Enduring Love into a film for release by Christmas.
Got lots more - if you're interested.
Of course if it's horny stories you're after Black Lace can't be beaten! biggrin
American Psycho - Bret Easton Ellis
LA Confidential - James Ellroy
All Families Are Psychotic - Douglas Coupland
All great books but not the easiest reads in the world (particularly the first 2 !)
And if you want sick sex scenes, American Psycho has loads with tons of room to spare !!!
