1976 ............. oh those halcion days, I actually fell in love for the first time in 1976 ............ <sigh>
what a summer though drinkies
:rascal:
I seldom drink these days, but when I was a youngster alcohol only had to satisfy 3 main points
1 it was palatable
2 I could afford it
3 it had the desired effect
Suppose I was a bit of an alchy chav rather than a booze snob.

that phrase reminds me of
Mad Dog 20/20 in a hallucinogenic array of flavours and colours....guaranteed to rot your teeth as well as your mind
White Lightning Cider (and others of that ilk).....nearest its been to an apple is being stood next to the cans of apple tango on the shelf.....can strip paint from walls.
Cherry Lambrini and Peach Concorde....chic sophistication for the ladies....ahem.....girls!
This thread has actually opened my eyes to how fussy people are with drink. I mainly drink to get drunk, but I tend not to really care what I'm drinking, I usually drink lager, Fosters mainly, but will drink just about anything.
Sounds bad when I look at it like that lol, but I always drink in moderation (yeh right!) but I definitely have a good time.
The occasional real ale  (by the pint as half's are for women) :lol2: or Guinness
Strongbow
Fizzy pink wine (any around a fiver)
Double Archers with a very very small dash of lemonade
Cant stand any lager, not fussed on vodka unless its frozen & neat, it has to be expensive stuff

jeez man, bet your liver is like shoe leather!!!
nah, i pretty much quit drinking by my mid 20's as i found more interesting things to try innocent
I am loving this thread, I AM a booze snob, but not all the time, depends on what I am doing etc,
If I am having a nice G&T, Hendricks is fantastic, (though I did drink a Welsh gin once and that was wonderful)
Vodka, if it is to be mixed, any old crap will be fine, but if it isn't, Stoli, Grey Goose etc are great.
I won't drink most lagers (though I do have a thing for Sol on a hot summers day, even though most people say it is Mexican workers p**s)

wave Hello naughtyloki - welcome to the forums!
I'm off to find Hendricks gin now... well, maybe not right this minute now but have made a mental note! I love a good G&T. I'm quite partial to Bombay Sapphire and Plymouth Gin, but shall (in the interest of science, of course!) have to give Hendricks a go...

I suppose I am a semi booze snob.... Won't touch lager, but are more than happy to drink bitter, sorry.. that makes me northern!!! lol
more of a booze snob but some of the beside wines are supermarkets own... for champagne, try Asda's or Tesco's own... if you find the right one they are fantastic....
It's expensive, (for gin) but it is yummy, best made with full fat tonic (not of this diet crap) and a good twist of lemon (ihink lime is too bitter in it)
Thank you for the welcome Nola

Come wondering back from the wilderness and had to go back 5 pages to find a topic I know anything about.
Absolute Booze Snob
Totally agree about the Hendricks the bestest gin by miles. Perfect for sipping from the finest bone china.
However - have often used the quality formula
volume x strength / price = best
Back in the day Old Brown Sherry beat even White Lightening and Mad Dog 20/20 into a pukey pan when it came to pissedness per pound.
Good Times, Good Times.

Bloody hell, I think I know you :eeek:

I don't touch Spirits as they make me nasty sad However, on the rare occassions If do drink when I'm out, I tend to usually have Carling for taste. If I am drinking in the house (such as now actually biggrin) I have no problem drinking cheaper Lager or Bitter. The only time I am EVER picky is with Saké. The only stuff I can get at a reasonable cost is in a couple of major supermarkets and although it's okay, after trying the REAL stuff in Japan it's bland and has no kick to it
There are some very nice wines in screw caps.
...but when it comes to a malt whisky that is what I want. Teachers is just not the same.

I've found a Merlot called Canti in Tesco, screw cap bottle and less than a fiver a bottle - bloody gorgeous too drinkies
I can be a beer snob - can't stand Carling, Stella, Fosters and all that crap. If I'm in the mood for beer it has to be mexican or european biggrin
Nola, Did you find any Hendricks?
