My other version of what i wouldnt miss:

in queues

the thing I miss most when I am away is the home feeling, you know the one that makes you feel relaxed and at ease. cool
I miss a good old cuppa esp Tetleys.
When I went to New York, i tracked down a proper tea shop much to my hubbys bemusement! rolleyes wink
while living in spain the 1 thing i really missed love it or hate it was MARMITE biggrin :D
a close 2nd has 2 be a large sunday roast :D
but now im back here i miss fresh olives good spanish brandy & the trusting friendly open spanish people ya dont need locks on yr doors in spain (at least in the rural areas) happy days come on them 6 numbers :D :D :D
When I lived in Spain a couple of years ago, I couldn't find anywhere that sold Lilt of all things. They had a Tesco though so I was alright for everything else, even Irn Bru!
I'd miss the weather, we all moan about it, but it's part of being british, I always have to find somewhere to buy the sun when i'm abroad too, can't beat the english press. lol
What I miss depends on where I am at a particular time and what is available.
Here in Holland we can get most things including a good local pub - even the good old BBC TV and Radio, but in France, for example, it is more difficult to find a pub, English language papers/TV etc. Having said that I spent over two years working in the south of France and was very happy there.
I have however just arrived back from Scotland this morning and have a number of "Red Cross food parcels" for the local contents are basically the same for all of them:
Bacon
Sausages
HP sauce
Chocolate biscuits - virtually impossible to get Club/Penguin type biscuits over here.
I spent my time at home up in the hills of Perthshire in the country and that is something I do miss in Holland.
McC
wooohooo,,,heading up that way too today and going to bring back Irn-Bru and pork sausages,,,along with other supplies :P

Chicken tikka massala
The NHS

i'd have to agree with that, nothing like going for a curry or kebab on a friday nite only for your post piss up meal to be interrupted by some yobs even more pissed than you slugging it out, with some ending up in the cells and the others in A&E.
Whilst living in France it was fresh milk is that I missed the most, together with crunchy nut cornfalkes, salt and vinegar crisps, brit humour (the frogs just aren't that funny). Also some decent cadbury's chocolate or an Aero and speaking of europe, women with shaved underarms were definitely missed.
Missed the footy, missed the rain, missed the dark cold nites, in fact God Bless Britain..Rule Britannia, Britannia rule the....sorry its just that the memories of being homesick have just resurfaced...I'm off to have a chikken tikka masala roast with chocolate aero milkshake made from fresh milk and chocolate sponge with custard for dessert confused
BACON from my local butchers. Real bacon no water injection then over to the farm shop for real free range eggs..yummie
Chicken tikka massala
god yeah a true british curry with loads of beer
Good to see marmite making a big hit in this category. Ive had it in my sandwiches every day for at least 25 years now biggrin
However my biggest reflection is as follows, am I the only man in England who goes drinking in pubs on his own confused:

You best put Dambuster at the top this year's list
And secondly Dambuster's passport :giggle:

Well miss them no more Sean. They are both available in Fenwicks Food Hall biggrin
Baked beans
Granary bread
Manchester tap water
Properly built houses
Radio 4
Meridian yeast extract (like marmite but not quite as strong and a quarter of the price)
We find that when we are in Asia we can get almost everything we can buy here (altough Jen says I am sad for buying HP sauce etc. even though she eats it). The things I miss are the thinigs we can't get there:-
Good Fish & Chips
British sausages
Pies (although some of the Australian ones sold in Asia are not too bad)
oh and places to go Dogging ;)
Most other stuff is available in M&S, Tesco or the Expat supermarkets.
Jen on the other hand doesn't moan much about things from home (Asia) missing only the sun , good temperatures and her pat cats.
Oh man, it's gotta be the bacon and poached egg on toast, M'mmmm.
