I'm on holiday from work this week. Holiday - that's a laugh. The list of places I was given to visit today was so long, I thought it would have been easier to write it on a bog roll rolleyes
Anyhow, I digress. On my miles of driving today I went past numerous bus stops. At almost every single bus stop was at least one person, sometimes two or three.
Not a single person was smiling. sad
Now I've not been on a bus for afew years now, so I was just wondering......
Is it standing by the side of the road that makes people unhappy, or is it the thought of journey on a double decker that does it?
More over, if you happen to waiting for a bus, SMILE !.

Sadly the sun was shining and the sky was blue.

It's not being on a bus that makes you sad, it's not having a bike.

I suspect the lack of smiles is in direct proportion to the lack of buses dunno
But this made me smile:

I never saw it do that before :-D
Stand at a bus stop where we live and your likely to be trampled by the hoardes of people pushing you out the way to get on. I can remember when there used to be queues at bus stops. Now everyone is in such a rush. The bendy buses do make it a bit easier though.

yes they are twice as long as the normal double decker, but they have a bendy bit in the middle for when they go around corners. ( i can feel some jokes coming on) :giggle:

I don't use buses very much any more, since I live around the corner from a Metro station, but when I was in Brum they were virtually my only form of transport other than my trusty Mk. 1 feet.
I met Mrs. DP whilst we were both waiting for the bus home outside work - one of the few occasions when I've not been particularly pissed off about waiting 45 minutes for a number 11. smile

I find bus stops really depressing ..
.. Especially when you have been standing there about 1/2 hour only to watch 1/2 a dozen bus's go past... on the opposite side of the road mad
Tony wink
Last bus I was on was in Rhodes last summer with MartellNotts. It was very hot, the bus was very full when a group of Swiss teengers got on and sat next to me on the back seat. The girl next to me became a laughing hyena and I became the middle aged potential teenage killer from hell  . It seemefd the bus journey went on hours which I am sure is not true but NO Ian I really did not feel like smiling lol.
Oh but I was smiling when I was waiting foir the bus if I remember lol.

As I wrote when I woke the thread a couple of days ago, I don't very often travel by bus. However for work I do have to travel a wee bit through Europe by plane. One recent trip to Sweden was horrific.
My magnetic personality made damn sure I was sitting next to the only brat from hell on the plane. With no seat of her own, this devil child (guessing around 2 or 3 years old) sat on her mum's knee for the flight.
The child was very disruptive and got worse as the flight progressed. When the in flight meal turned up (pasta) the child grabbed two large handfulls and scattered the pasta across the rows immediately behind us. mad
Now I don't know any Swedish, but quickly learnt that a word that sounded like "Nay" and was swiftly followed by the hairy side of the womans hand on the back of the childs head meant "NO". This Nay was repeated throughout the whole flight, but was ignored.
Eventually, one of the stewards gave the little girl a digestive biscuit. But, rather than eat the biscuit, she just sucked on it, and drew patterns on the in flight table.
After several more "Nay's", the girl then stood on her mums knees, sucked the biscuit and drew patterns on the bald head of the man in front of her.
How the fluck he managed to not even turn round I don't know. He just waited for the pattern on his head to dry, then brushed the crumbs onto the floor.
Patience of a saint.
