Hi
I was a goth most of my adult life before I had kids and still wear the gear when going to metal clubs! Always loved the music too, particularly, Korn, Deftones, Marilyn Manson, Ramones, Faith No More and NIN!
Love loads of the newer ones too...but don't get as much time to listen to them! Nice to see loads of other people like the same kind of stuff!
biggrin
i was a goth/punk back in the day lol. used to go to the old JB's in Dudley when it was behind Pathfinder biggrin
Used to love The Cult, The Cure, Sisters of Mercy, Bahaus, Smiths, Damned, Pistols,SLF,Stranglers and my favourite would have to be Dead Kennedys'
Still listen to a lot of it when i get time, but somehow got into Orbital, Prodigy and the Chemical brothers lol.
Jeez i'm mixed up :D
i'm all about the punk and the metal, always have been, i play guitar in this band

you cant beat glorious, beautiful, violent noise caressing your ears as they bleed tears of pure love for the screaming malestrom of rock.
lol I had to laugh reading the title - there must be half a dozen members with the word 'goth' in their user name, and - by some strange co-incidence - half a dozen strings with titles like "Calling all goths" rotflmao
Can anyone recall ever having seen a string called "Calling all Jazz fans" wink
Actually, the number of goths on here who have made a point of saying 'I am a goth' has made me change the way I think of them - it is not really behaviour I would have ever associated with a goth. confused

kids eh, they dont know theyre born
Ex punk rocker here. Used to manage a band in Brighton called Sperm ov Doom, they were very Exploited influenced and it was great getting all the better known punk bands to play gigs down here. Bands I've hired include:
Peter and the Testube Babies (Petes a mate of mine).
GBH
999
UK Subs
Sham69
Chelsea
The Lurkers
Anti Nowhere League
What I would do is hire the venue, sort out the PA etc, hire the headlining band, put posters and fliers everywhere, invite some local bands to play, and make sure Sperm ov Doom were on second last! smile Those were the days!
i love metal, rock and harcore music anyone who wants to chat about bans, cds, gigs etc let me know! smile
Fav sisters track has to be 'Alice'
Anyone who hasn't heard this, please go find it, its awesome biggrin
i dnt no about the rest of the uk but the rock/goth scene is prety thriving in the north west, places like wigan and preston are full of us, it seams we used to be a minority but were becoming a majority and as such were becoming more socialy aceptable which has its ups and downs.
Its been a while since I went to a gig, but will get round to it again one day. Maybe I can be king of the mosh pit at *Fuck Reading..... Again!! biggrin
*Fuck Reading is the anual Punk alternative to the Reading Festival, usualy held at the Brixton Accademy.
More rock/metal fans here.
Going to Download next month? check out our post in the Lets Meet forum.
Also just bought tickets for Rammstien and Motley Crue....can't believe two of my favorite bands are actually playing in Newcastle.
The Rock club scene is actually picking up again in Newcastle after the sad demise of The Mayfair with a relatively new Fri/Sat rock night on at Legends night club. Would recommend any rock/metal etc fans to have a look in if ever in the Newcastle area.

LOL, I was trying to explain to laddo that his idea of "goth," "punk," "rock" are not my idea of the same... as some sod keep re-defining what it should sound like....
In my day you could reconise a goth because they were the misurable paisty faced ones sat on the floor in the corner wanting to end it all... i think they are now called velvet goths!
most hard goth music now seems to be very much what i would have called thrash metal in my youth... I do love the cyber goth look or the tank girl goth look, yum yum lol, and especially goths that swing poi's... thats soooo coool!
One of the most amazing "goths" i've seen has to be industrial bitch, now theres a lass with a look and a wardrobe that must have cost a fortune!
As I have reciently done quite a few live gig shoots at J7 in notts, I have to say the real apeal of the music is not so much the style... more the fact its loud and live, but i really must get ear plugs as i spend far to much time shooting from just infront of the speakers :?
well im still old school i just like listening to more than just goth
still listen to bauhaus, the sisters , alien sex fiend to name a few
im curtainly not of the misarable persuasion (i think thats what they call pretensious goth)
i love punk, metal, ska. currently listening to the new albums from System of a Down, Weezer, Reel Big Fish and a team sleep album (the guy from the deftone's side project)
The choice of rock nights is pretty poor here in Durham but there's a few good ones. it's nice to have people with the same interests together. i'm new to all this and it's tough finding a way into conversations on the forums.

Also, is anyone going to the Leeds Carling Festival this year? it's going to be my 5th year there!
hi folx, just thought I'd mention that punk is enjoying a rather good rebirth in stocport at the mo,due to a pub called the thatched house booking some brilliant old punk bands, vibrators, peter and the test tube babies, anti nowhere league etc, they do have a website with dates etc,as long as you don't have a problem mixing with bikers it's a brilliant pub with an excellent atmosphere, just when I thought I'd got over the first time round,I'm seeing em all again, might see some of you there sometime,uk subs playing in september
went to see the damned a couple of weeks ago........great night! sound as good as ever.
