can anybody recommend another site for meeting people?

This site does work if you take time to put in a little effort. In my opinion you haven't really given the site chance to be able to say it doesn't work. Its not often you walk into a bar and everyone talks to you straight away, it normally takes a little while to adjust, same as here :thumbup:
I did lock this thread but that is purely because you don't tend to walk into Tesco to ask what offers Asda have on (or any other superstore/shop/food hall)
There is plenty of advice to help you make this site work for you, whether that be spending time in the chatroom, forum or placing ads. Take a look around, you might even like it
Why don't you visit our mentor thread and see if someone can offer a bit of personal advice :thumbup:
