Has anyone any knowledge or experience in challenging a car insurance pay-out decision?
The legal dept of my car insurance company have just back-tracked on a decision they made last July, they say they are sorry but that I have been given the wrong information on what payout to expect.
I am absolutely gutted, because I have made other financial decisions based on what they have told me for the last 6 months, while awaiting this payout.
If anyone would be so kind as to take a minute to read the full details, please pm me and I will explain. (I'm not keen on saying the full details on here for certain reasons)
Even if the outcome is that there's nothing I can do, I'd still be very grateful.
Thanks all x
Sorry Cherry, I can't offer any personal experience, but it might be worth a call to . I've had some good advice from them in the past, and I believe they keep a solicitor locked in a cupboard to give advice on tricky subjects.
Hope that helps.
Check your house insurance and see if they have access to free legal advice. Alternatively, how about your Unions' (if you are in one) legal advice line

If anything was put in writing to you gather it up, along with any dates that you spoke on the phone, (phone calls are recorded and can be used to support you, if you can get hold of them). Take the whole thing to a lawyer, make sure they give the first consultation free.
What matters is in the detail. Did they say you would get, you would get if, you can expect to get or what ever.
Yes do check you house hold insureance, it can cover leagal cost.
Good luck

You can appeal the decision.
Get back to them and state that you are unhappy with it and obtain the detail for an appeal.
All Insurance Companies are obliged by law to keep any calls made by you to them in regards to claims. If you can remember the dates you contacted them on I suggest you request a copy of those conversations.

yes you make a complaint to the firm. If they dont back down u rfer it to the financial ombudsman. Their service is both free and friendly. I have lots of expertise in these matters.
