I feel changing laws can not really protect our children.
You can give out stiffer sentences which then would keep one locked up, but there will always be many to step into their shoes.
I feel all we can do is arm our children with the knowledge of situations they may find themselves in and best ways to be able to deal with them.
To educate your children about the dangers in life is to help protect them. We all want to wrap them in cotton wool to shield them from danger, me included but I feel it isn’t the best for them.
So I have told my children about cases that have happened in the past and questioned them on what they would do if they found themselves in the same situation
We all want to protect our children from evil, but it is a fact that has always been around since the year dot.
To me to be forearmed is to be forewarned.
A shame but that has always been the way in society.
What are you views?
since labour govt. came to power we've had so many laws introduced but some are just a form of draining more cash from tax payers but the one relevant to this thread is drink driving has been upgraded to criminal offence and anyone convicted cannot work with children,i dont see the connection at all
If you consider the problem objectively, you realise that laws are not of much use. People are supposed to realise that something is illegal, and not do it. Obviously, with the courts packed to the brim, and prisons likewise, that is not working. In fact, it is social convention that is not working. is wrong. That message is clearly not getting to some. Maybe the "obsession" with sex in this society is the problem ?
But then, child abuse (sexual) seems to be across-the-globe, not just sex-obsessed western nations.
It is interesting to consider how a child is to be educated about possible sex abuse by a male parent, without affecting the child-parent bond. Interesting, but abhorrent.
Its also very worthwhile keeping the chat logs for msn to for exactly the same reason
I actually don't think it is logical or rational to allow paedophiles to have kiddy porn on their P.C. to prevent anything.
I look at porn. I still have sex. Simple.
The "funniest" thing is that over 90% of child-abuse takes place in the home, by close family ... this ludicrous tabloid peedofilya scare where they try and convince you there's a behind every bush is not only hysterical, it's downright dishonest. In fact it's actually dangerous, as it's inadvertantly persuading people that paedophiles *only* lurk behind bushes in parks.
