Does anyone know how to switch them off?
Even when I go 'offline' each ruddy window - forum or advert I go to it pops up again - it's worse than free porn.

Is it the chat screen that pops up? The whisper screen? I know what you mean, it has happened to me a few times.
Try clearing your cache and see what happens then

Under "Messenger", "Show IM Status" - click on the drop-down menu and pick "Off", then press save. (You won't be able to send or receive messages through the instant messenger.)
