could someone sort out the chatroom, sick of having to go thru the activation process, needs to be a bit easier to get in,bet its putting a lot of ppl off going in for a chat
yeah same hear went in ones and could not be arsed to do it again
The registration process is nothing to do with SH, the servers/network is run by Starchat. The registration process is the same for any IRC network and could not be simpler!
1). choose a user name and register it
2). recieve confirmation email and follow instructions contained therin
3). log in and chat!
This subject is covered in great detail in many threads, and also in a step by step guide on the chatroom pages - ffs the only way it could be easier is if someone came round your house and did it for you :!:
not talking about register its the fact that we`ve got to register every time we want to chat, which is the reason why u register in the first place...do once????????
In that case, I'd suggest you have not completed the process correctly...........
start the chat window, or log on via mIRC, and type /join #shhelp - the ops reside there to help in cases of difficulty - again as outlined in the chatroom help instructions........
Have you not heard the old saying "When all else fails - read the fucking instructions" ???? rolleyes wink
ps - if you are trying the same nick in chat as here - this is the result of an info check on nickserve ----- • mr&mrsdisco1 is not a registered nickname.
we all love a smart arse lol, been there, done that and dont want the t-shirt
Hi all !
I found the chatroom quite easy to get in and had no problems after that but I do know what you mean. The instructions are very limited and if you want to change your nick for example I couldn't find a clear way to do it, in fact I think I actually asked in the room !
The folk there were usually friendly but I did find it a bit cliquey, that's probably because more than 75% of the people are blokes who are just browsing "Hi I'm (insert your bloke name), you m or f", the answer coming back is usually "m lol" so after an hour of that it becomes quite tedious. Anyway, these days I enjoy the forum more !

Well, I am a regular user of the chatroom, I drop in there nearly every night, and it took me three goes to get in on Friday night. On the first two attempts the system told me that my nick was not registered, which was a lie. I tried a third time and suddenly everything was okay - I don't know why, perhaps the wind changed direction, I have no idea. So please stop pretending that the system is perfect. And I don't think that remarks like
Have you not heard the old saying "When all else fails - read the fucking instructions" ????

have any place on here.
Mike.
sad we just cant get in,never nown such a crap system. redface
Oh dear rolleyes I am strangely drawn to these chatroom threads even though I can be of no help to the people doing battle with Starchat.
It is a difficult system to figure out, but of course its not the Swinging Heaven system is? Its a just mIRC in general which is a bit scary if you've never used anything like that before. I can sympathise with new users as it is very frustrating - however the Room Ops and some of the more experienced chatroom users on the forum are soooooo helpful.
I registered a new nick today - which I had wanted to do for ages but hesitated as I remembered what a nightmare it was the first time I tried it. However I followed the directions to the letter and it all went smoothly (actually took about 30 seconds all on my own - compared to 3 and a half days the first time with room ops holding my hand for most of the time)
I just can't understand why everyone comes in to the forum shouting "get it sorted", "its crap", "bloody stupid system". For one thing the site admin are so open to new ideas I'm sure they would be happy to take on board any advice about "better" systems. I don't use any other sites so I'm not really sure what these other systems are??
So ah for a neilinleeds style summary : sympathise with problems - please don't be rude
