has anyone actually had cheaper car insurance? we've all seen the tv adverts "quote me happy" save up to £107. whenever i ring up no-one ever beats my quote from who i'm already with.
Thank God for that. I assumed it was just me. I find the same with the Internet sites as well. Quote me happy......Quote me mad
The wonderful qualification " UP TO ........" in a sentence . Do you know I can satisfy a woman up to a hundred times a night ?
But have you heard the latest one?
If you don't drive yer motor at night you can get cheaper car insurance
the fookers will even fit a tracking device to make sure you comply!
There must be some euro law can use to sue them for the discrimination against doggers? dunno

i have just re- insured my van this week online much cheaper than anywhere else i could find. Total price £220 for a year for a ford courier van which was over £100 cheaper than my renewal quote froma well advertised insurance company .
if anyone wants the company name just pm me as i can not put it here as it would be advertising and against the rules ..
paul
I have just reinsured my van as well, and saved £100 biggrin
Although the main reason I changed company (from a well known one), was because, I was fed up waiting in a queue of calls, 10 mins etc. Or having to speak to someone that lacked any common sense, or had difficulty with the English Language (and no thats not a racist comment, more a comment on the persons brain cells mad
I am also insured with the original company, for my car, and thats next to be changed :D
So thy are going to lose twice :D
i think they give a few people cheap quotes so these people tell there friends, a chap at work said hey get your car quote from(.....) i rang them they was £100 more than i was paying at that time
I have just checked out
They search many different companies in one go so you only need to enter your details once..
Cheapest quote I have got is £50 cheaper than I paid last year
So it seems my renewal will actually be cheaper this year with another years NCB instead of it going up to pay for all the scallywags who dont bother with insurance....
I tried and all quotes came back at 500 quid or so... when my insurer was offering me 364 quid. So I went to and found too many quotes lower than the one I had been quoted for renewal. Some were valid for 5 days only, some were valid for a month. In the small print one realises they do not cover you for everything your current insurer is... so add this, add that... the prices go up. However, there was a quote from my insurer there... and I checked it out and it didn't make sense as it was cheaper. So the following morning I rang them and asked about it and ended up getting a price even cheaper!
My insurance this year cost me £336 and I got a lower excess as well (experience has taught me that accidents do happen without it being your fault and then it is well worth paying a few quid more per annum to get a lower excess than trying to save a few quid and then paying more than £50 quid on each accident you report...
It is worth shopping around but one needs to be very careful to get a comparable offer.

Working in the motor trade I am well aware of all the ins and outs of the small print and my new quote offers me the same level of cover I have now with a lower excess

Have you noticed when she rings that company all she tells them is that it's a hatchback and she gets a fab quote? dunno How come I have to tell them everything including my bleeding bra size before I realise I'd be better off staying where I am?
Sounds as if you have taken my post personally? Or why would you need to quote my post in your clarification? Now I am confused! surprised

I quoted you as I was responding to what you wrote...
Thats permissable is it not dunno
My trick when it comes to car insurance is to ring them up when you get your renuwal quote and tell them that another company (I normally go for tesco online) have made you a better offer (at which point you say a made up quote that it less tha theirs). They will then put you on hold while they 'see what they can do'. They then leave you on hold whilst they go and make a brew, or stare out of the window daydreaming for 5 mins, then come back on the line to tell you that they can actually do it for less than the made up quote! Bingo! Job done! lol
Its amazing what firms will do it they think they are about to lose a customer, this trick also works well on mobile phone companies!

I do hate the way a lot of insurance companies dont send out your renewal untill its almost time to renew......Leaving you little time to shop for a better deal... mad

They quoted me happy!
I was bluddy happy to find they were far more expensive than the other quotes I'd got lol
I ended up with the bloke with the parrot on his shoulder ;-)
Well I did get much cheaper car insurance the last time I renewed.........
But only because I am now over 25!
biggrin
well our renewal quote was £321 (been with the same company 10 years and have 10 yr NCB) and we managed to get it online at ecarinsurance for £164 with no claims protection and free breakdown cover including homestart we honestly thought the quote was a mistake as everywhere else we tried was between £300 and £400 anyway we went for it and now have the policy through including the breakdown cover, we've also just taxed the car online too on the dvla website and all was fine, just can't seem to believe how much we saved!!!!!

buy a landrover, join the NFU, fully comp & breakdown £105 quid
I can understand everyones frustations when phoning up for cheaper car insurance, I have done it myself, but please bear a thought for the poor insurance adviser at the other end of the phone who gets it in the neck cos the insurance quote they have just given the customer is too high .(It could be me at the end of the phone giving the quote)
Must say not all customers are the same
It is not the insurance adviser that makes the prices it is the insurance company.
But I am pleased that a lot of you have found cheaper car insurance sorry to say its not with who I work for.
Bang goes my bonus

My local broker beat them all, saved me over £600 on 3 cars. Sometimes it pays to shop local.
