We are going to hit close to 89p a litre by the summer. Want petrol
prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action.
Check this idea out!!!
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy petrol on a certain day"
campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies
just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt
ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us
than it was a problem for them.
BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can
really work. Please read it and join in!
Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to
think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP at 77p -80p, we need to take
aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace
not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers
need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol
come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their
Petrol!
And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea:
For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two
Biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP. If they are
not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If
they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.
But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP
petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't whimp out on me at this
point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of
people!!
I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send it to at
least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least
ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches
the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over
THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this
on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been
contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED
MILLION PEOPLE!!!
Again, all You have to do is copy and paste this to email and send this to 10 people. That's all (and not buy at ESSO/BP).
How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten
more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people
could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you
didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting
together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass
this message on.
PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 69p a LITRE
RANGE
Action:
It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your
Petrol at Shell, Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons (75p), Jet etc. i.e. Boycott
BP and Esso.
*sigh*
Whilst I applaud the sentiments in this chain email, its method of delivery is just going to clog up mail servers around the country as people forward this on multiple times.
Three hundred million people? That means that every single person in this country will have recieved this email at least 6 times! And that's assuming 100% internet access! The mail servers at the ISPs are going to be melting under the strain.
I've already had it three times and am bored....
we gotta get the price of fuel down it getting that expensive to go dogging in a car...I may have to get me old butchers bike out!!! LOL
It's simple, everyone just stops using any form of petroleum based fuel driven vehicle for one month. Once the country grinds to a halt, the government will have to think again.
There is no easy answer Flapjack , for young couples with a mortgage facing interest rate rises anbd having to run 2 cars to travel to 2 jobs just to keep the house , and pay the Council Tax there prolly just isn't an answer . We should all slow down , choose smaller engined cars keep them in good condition and if we all ride our bikes *more then we can look forward to gaining Adonis bodies and becoming toned sex gods , (OK if you like muscled women) and this will help also save the planet a bit .
I have now seen this 3 times as well , and still feel strongly it falls down for the above reasons.
* Ive got a very flash looking bright yellow mountain bike , it must still be in the back of the shed behind the BBQ.
I am a little confused by this chain email. Since most people (literally speaking) has already read this email then hasn't this so called 'action' already being taken place? 3 Million odd people have read this email yet I bet only a hand full would of acted upon it.
Why do people create these emails? They believe it is a good joke and for notarity reasons but some of the chain mails are really poor taste.
Personnally they hold no interest to me whatso ever. They bore my socks off. I get angry when they say, 'You MUST send this to ten people so this dying child can get 10p' or something similar. We all know (or should know) that there is no email traking system in place, no major corporation gives money out like that and if you don't believe or will act on these emails then please, PLEASE don't send them on.
I have to admit, these email spams are a personal pet hate.
Sorry about that rant. It just really iritates me.

In a word, apathy.
Everyone thinks it's a good idea, no-one can be arsed to do it. It'll never work and TBH why should it? It's targeting the wrong people. The oil companies are parasites I think anyone who knows anything about their activities would agree to that, but we need them. Without the fuels this country and most of the world would grind to a halt and millions would die.
The real enemy in this country is the government. IIRC 89p of every £1 spent goes to the treasury. For what? Major road improvements? Subsidising a massive, highly efficient public transport system? Keeping troops in areas where they are not wanted?
There is a HUGE money vacuum in this country. We feed it and it just dissappears.
A member of another site I belong to is a local government auditor and he says the amount of unnecessary waste, by certain departments, of OUR money borders on the ludicrus.
But because of apathy, nobody bothers to check and when someone does we all think "Well I'm too busy. Let someone else deal with it".
We're soooo well trained and each generation just gets a little bit less interested. Don't believe me? Look at the voting numbers since 1970. They show a steady decline in numbers.
Strange isn't it we're off upholding democracy in other countries, while nobody here seems that interested in it and we're slowly heading towards an "elected" dictatorship.
OK - I always fill up at Tescos - but who do Tesco buy their petrol from?
lhk
Are people forgetting that driving should be regarded as a luxury, if you think petrol prices are too high - use public transport, or better still, get some exercise and walk.
I have heared all the arguements that public transport cannot offer the same standard as your own car - of course not that is why it is cheaper.
Oil companies are there to make profit, they are commercial businesses. Oil is finite resource and therefore will go up in price as resources are used. Plus they will charge what they think people will pay.
Haulage companies complain about the increases in fuel prices, the obvious option is for them to increase their prices, the only problem with that, for their point of view, is that people would start taking an interest in their profit margins.
I have a car but I still make the effort to try and use public transport / walk where possible - you should try it - you might even enjoy the walk.
Apologies for this little rant, I do get very annoyed about people complain about fuel prices. So many other things in the world that we should be complaining about but because it does not directly effect us - we do nothing.
I'm sure I read somewhere that the big oil companies actually barely make any money from petrol anyway. It's all taxes etc. If I remember rightly (bearing in mind my memory is not my best asset redface ) they make about 2p per gallon, if that.
So stopping driving for a little while won't do a thing. You would still have to use public transport and companies won't halt deliveries.
Their biggest profits are made elsewhere - can't remember where tho blink - maybe Air fuel, engine oils etc?
