Congratulations! I failed mine last October. Gutted doesn't cover it.

thank you... i do feel very good about being a female on a bike... i dont know why, i suppose i just like the fact that it isn't very common to see...and if im honest i like the looks people give you.. they are almost suprised i think..as if you aren't at all the kind of girl they'd expect to see riding a bike. mind you, ive lost pints of sweat this week with my lessons in this heat and wearing the gear... and im determined to be a bit of a scooter tart in town if the weather stays hot... short skirt on the scooter...just zipping about town... but then ive been so influenced by the old italian films with gorgeous chicks on scooters...
H-x ... why didn't you try again?
Was about to do mine but being force to but had to buy another car. I'm doing mock theory and hazard perception tests to make sure befor i go on to training.
I've been a bit busy with college but I will do at some point.
Minor point - please, please, please don't tell me you wear a short skirt on a scooter.
Tight jeans - yes,
boots - yes,
gloves definately.
Have you seen what coming off at 30 with nothing between you and the tarmac does to skin.
Sorry, just freaks me out when I see people hammering around on bikes in shorts and flipflops.

I've got all the gear now but didn't realise i needed a short skirt lol
Joking aside i've seen that too and it gives me the ebgb's.
H-x i know you are completely right about the safety... in all honesty i'm not sure if i would do that for that very reason.. but i can't say i wont. I think for the bikes doing faster speeds then yes, i also look at them in shorts and t shirts and think they are fools, im very conscious that there is nothing between me and the road whilst riding... im not sure about the scooter though... perhaps shorter slower journeys maybe... i wont put myself at risk though... i'll just have to see how it feels when it finally arrives

Ex of mine was bought off his bike at very low speed ... wearing cords .... the gravel rash was vicious, took months to heal and left a terrible scar! ... TBH it just aint worth it!
Even in this sweltering weather .. leathers are a must and I get very angry that it's not the law!!!!!
If you're going to pay thousands on a decent bike then a few hundred pounds on gear to wear isn't a lot to ask!

I was doing my CBT on one of the hottest days this year and sweating my tits off in all the leather gear. The only bit that got a breeze was my face in my open face helmet confused I wouldn'e even think of going out on George without the full kit though. I've seen first hand the damage that can be done when skin meets tarmac and it's not a pretty sight

The bike is the only thing I miss about my ex sad haven't been on the back of a bike for a fair few years.
Cx
The first thing we were told on our CBT was a run through of the effect of tarmac meeting skin if you came off doin 30mph. A long time ago so I cant remember the details, but they went through how far you would slide & how long each layer of your body eg skin, muscle, bone etc would last. It wasn't nice. I'll never ride a bike without the gear on.
The thing is these days theres no need to sweat it out. Some of the stuff made now with protectors in the right places can be quite comfy to ride in. And shedloads safer than skin!
Some may think its cool to flash some flesh on a hot day- but other bikers tend to be looking at them thinking *****. And it doesn't look very cool once the flesh is torn away anyway.
I did have an accident once, at 30mph ish i reckon I travelled about 20 feet on my back. Must say it was an odd feeling but my leather jacket didn't have a scratch on it !
the bike footbrake lever however got "milled" down on the leading edge ( although I accept that the weight of the m/c probably helped). still goes to show what forces come into play when things go wrong !
Although there are lots of alternatives to leather now, I used to switch to pigskin(suede) in hot weather, it was just as good plus nice an cool , but not so waterproof ! it did dry out quite quickly after a shower though. and........got me served in pubs ! why ? well "mr landlord", its NoT a leather jacket see ! its pig skin !!!!! an your sign says "NO Black Leathers "...
Leathers etc, are a definite must.
I managed to end up going through a car windscreen, after having left the very comfortable position of my bike seat
My boots wrecked the cars bodywork, my helmet saved me from the impact of the glass, and my leathers saved me from the cuts etc.
I eventually came too lying on the back seat of the car  but luckily in one piece biggrin
The car driver that caused the accident, was already banned, uninsured, and speeding evil
