We live down here in the SE, and only yesterday we received an e-mail from our regular club about the new price increase it was making for couples and single guys(single ladies no change). Now we use to go there quite regular when it was sensibly priced (around ) but then it went upto and we cut back our visits to once every couple of months. Now in this long winded e-mail it explains their new price increase( for couples), using the VAT increase as one of its justifications(yeah you do the maths). Now to be honest this has killed it for us, does anyone else feel the same way about their clubs or are they reasonable priced. In all honesty we may just give clubs in the SE a wide berth and go to some of the better clubs in the midlands and the North, yes we may that little extra but its something we can make a weekend of it.
I gotta admit theres a few clubs where the entrance fee has made me think "NO" bearing in mind we have to spend a fair whack on petrol to get to any of em.
I wouldn't happily pay more than £30 for a club night.
maybe....Clubs have used the stupidly high cost they charge single guys, to subsidise couples and the single lady entrance fee for to long. Maybe guys, (as I warned in a recent thread)have woken up and have just siad NO ..to expensive..not paying. This reduction in numbers and revenue will mean hefty increases in charges to all others. I am guessing that if they are charging a couple £50 ( ie £25 a person ) they are charging a single guy entrance in excess of !!! and this on top of a hefty membership.
Think there is a bit of a price war going on in the Northern clubs, we get into our favorite club (A&Gs) for £10 per couple if we go in before 9-30 any night, after that time it's £20 per couple, still not bad. A lot of the other clubs the North are around that price, we thought £30 per couple at a Blackpool club was expensive.

In this current economical climate I would have thoyhght that any price increase would have been financial disatser for clubs?
How any club can get away with charging 50 pounds for entry is madness, and even madder for any couples who pay it.
We would never be able to justify that kind of outlay and we think some clubs are just being downright greedy.
What a VAT increese has to do with entry to a club i do not know, seems yet another excuse for more money. Our advise would be to boycott those clubs.
