Evening All,
I've been meaning to come and open the old bar up for ages. I think it's been a while.
How lovely to see my old friends Mr & Mrs FC in here last night! :shock: So sorry I missed them - it would have been great to have renewed acquaintances :rascal:
So then, what can I get you all? Think I'll have a large glass of red (some Portuguese on the go at the moment - just for a change) while I think of a cocktail to mix. If you have suggestions for a cocktail then please let me know. I'll try anything once innocent
Will :cheers:

Of course. I can refuse you nothing! :kiss:

Very good! Unfortunately, that just about exhausts my Portuguese.
Mind you, to keep the theme going, I might be heading for some port later.
Now then, about these Caipirinhas, the only recipe I have is lime juice, aguardente, caster sugar and ice. How do you make them?
Will
Cachaca (usually use Sagatiba) brown sugar, crushed ice and limes.
:lickface:
Inadvertantly created a new cocktail today. I was trying to creat a 'rainbow cocktail' with layers of different colours. Unfortunately, all the colours mixed into a non-descript brown. Sappho (who doesn't normally do cocktails) said that it smelled like cough medicine. However, she also said it was delicious. Here's the recipe, I would be interested to hear what you think:
Equal measures of:
Brandy
Grenadine
Apricot Brandy
Creme de Menthe
Blue Curacao
Pour, one by one, into a glass and drink. It has a wonderful fruity flavour with a hint of peepermint.
Do try it and let me know what you think.

A barmen I knew used to make drinks like this. it all relies on getting the denser spirits lower than the lighter ones. I believe (and don't quote me!!) he used a straw and a small funnel and poured the heavier spirits through the lighter spirits using the straw so as to prevent them mixing up the striping effect.

Keep practicing Will! lol

I'll keep trying. The experimentation should be fun (isn't it always? :rascal: )

PS Good to see you, how are things? :thumbup:
Yep - practice makes perfect (or gets you pissed!! lol )
Things are pretty good - have to put you down for a teastop when biking later in the year coffee

Whilst always keen to keep my customers happy, I'm struggling to find the alcohol in that recipe. I have found that a lack of alcohol at the weekend can bring me out in a rash and leave me feeling miserable!

Many moons ago before Dave and Busters closed down me and Mrs Tweeky use to frequent there a fair bit. A particular favorite of mine in D&B was the Beam me up scotty cocktail. Ive tried googling but you cant get a decent picture due to pictures of bloody Star trek. There are at least recipes though. One version sounds like a thick creamy thing which certainly is not what I had sad The one I had I imagine would have been the one linked below. Call me silly but I thought it was called a beam me up Scotty cus it looked like a transporter beam with the swirly effect in it. If you try it Will, tell us if it does biggrin MMMMM havent had one for donkeys years :(
Beam Me Up Scotty Cocktail Ingredients
* 1 measure Jim Beam
* 1 measure Scotch
* half measure lime cordial
* top up with lemonade
Instructions
Crush some ice, add it to a highball glass. pour in the Scotch and Jim Beam, then add the lime cordial. give it a stir, then top up with lemonade.
Ooh, that looks interesting. I'll try one now and report back!

That would be a pousse cafe
can I suggest a Martini......
RECIPE..
1. make the gin aware of the possibility of the existence of such a thing as vermouth...(never on any account introduce them to each other)
gin over ice.....stir
ice
..."quickly while it's still laughing at you"
The usual method for a pousse cafe (a type of drink not a specific cocktail) is to pour the heavier drinks down the back of a spoon....not you understand that I have first hand knowledge of these things...I just read it somewhere once...honest ....i did
