Hiya
I just wondered if there are many coeliacs or DH sufferers in the swinging community, to anyone not familiar with these health probs they are both forms of gluten intollerance.
As a sufferer myself it would be interesting to know that there are others in a similar situation in the community

Have you googled it?

...this seems to be a very comprehensive website, for instance.

FB smothers herself in chocolate.
I used to work with some colleagues where one was a coeliac, one lactose intolerant, one a vegatarian and other a mormon and me a man eater (sorry meant meat eater)...... getting treats/nibbles in that took everyones needs into account used to be a nightmare! :eeek:
I never got it all right all of the time..... no matter how much I tried. When I did I was dead chuffed. Going out for a meal we had to check out menu's first... had to put a little more thought into it but I didnt mind.
What did learn though was food was more expensive, especially little treats... which my friend missed (she has a sweet tooth).
My friend said that she ate more vegatables and tended to shop at tesco's/sainsbury's as they had the best selection to get *other* foods..
I found a nice recipe for bread recently that I thought I'd make for her...... finding the flour was a pain tho!!

As in all forms of life, I am sure there are. I suffer with GORD on occasions but it isn't a chat up line.

Cheeky bugger!
Well that's made my confidence levels soar - not
not the same i know but my little lad has milk protein allergy, so ALL kinds of dairy foods are out!
its becoming a right royal pain in the ass to wean him hehe! especially when his sister is SO helpful shoving yoghurt covered fingers in his mouth "to try"!!! rolleyes
anyway having done some research and changing how we all eat as a family seems to be helping! i now no longer have to worry about what margarine i use, bread/cakes/biscuits/pasta/sauces i buy!
i have phoned the local supermarkets and they are all sending me a list of their own brand foods that are dairy free (this includes their beers etc - not so suitable for a baby lol, but adults have milk allergys too!). might be worthwhile phoning the supermarkets and getting a list of gluten free own brand products!
the above was suggested by my sons dietician, as many premium brands exist to make us buy their "free from" ranges, but many many supermarkets produce their own brand items free from anyway - its a matter of checking lables and shopping with the list in hand!
hope this helps!

wave R1der.
I don't suffer from Coeliac or DH but I have suffered with gluten over the years. Now it's quite well known that gluten can make the symptoms of Aspergers much worse - if only my mother had known! lol
It's not half as bad now but I still eat gluten free pasta and bread at home so I can empathise a little.
Hi R1rider, my friend's dad suffers from coeliac and so does a wife of another friend, it isn't a nice disease and shouldn't be taken lightly. Both often end up in hospital with it. It is controlled with a careful diet as I am sure you will know all about.
I am very sensitive to certain products myself, I cannot eat white bread, white pasta and certain other wheat products, if I do I pay for it. Chocolate is a no no but that is the one thing I ignore and tend to just eat it and suffer, not a good idea!
A while ago I had one of those intolerance tests done and that was very enlightening. You could go along to a Natural Health advisor who may be able to help.
Good luck anyway, don't think I've been much help. xx
Ay up
My son was diagnosed 10 years ago, and was told that he was a coeliac, but for some reason i was never tested.
Then a couple of years ago i started getting these real bad blistering rashes on the front and back of my knees, elbows, buttocks, the doc gave me various creams but nothing did any good.
So at my request he sent me to the hospital to see a dermatologist, the new doc when he saw my rashes told me he knew what it was, but could`nt treat me without a biopsy which he did that day.
A month later and i knew i had DH, he prescribed me the medicine, and a few days later the rash was nearly gone.
Its now well under control and i`m symtom free, i follow a gluten free diet nearly to the letter, but i do have moments of weakness, ie Guiness in the pub or a sauna beer at home.
I was also tested and confirmed to be a coeliac, which was no suprise when i new that DH is a gluten intollerance.
My life has had to change a bit but things are ok, i can still cook things that i like to eat, just have to change some of the ingredients and methods of cooking.
I was really just looking to see if there were more of us in the swinging community by posting this, and maybe to pass on a bit of usefull info in the process.

I`m glad i did`nt have to bump this, (thanks tiger), we all are, or probably will be, parents at some time but if your child complains of stomach pains dont ignore it as ways to get of school.
I didnt learn before the age off 46 that i was a coeliac and i had DH, i also have a son who is coeliac and a cousin that was also a coeliac.
It will effect your childs growth and also your childs emotional behaviour
Do not wait for a doctor to tell you that he thinks you might effected by this kind of illness, it is not such a high priority illness and is not easily found by the general practitioner it took mine a year, and it was me that demanded a check up by a dermatologist.
Coeliacs are messured in one in a hundred DH sufferers are measured one in 15 thousand so i suppose that makes me special, ok not in a good sort of way but if i can help someone i will.
Ok thats my rant for the day, and i was just gonna switch the pc off, i hope i help someone now or in the future with this thread
