Ive got a samsung digi camera, using a 2gb sd card.
I can take videos on my camera, and play them back on the camera with no problems.
However, I use a card reader to upload photos/video to PC, and when I play a video on my PC, I can hear the video, but can't see it.
Any ideas.
cheers
Presumably, when you got the Samsung it came with a CD which would usually contain the relevant programmes, codecs, etc. to be loaded onto your computer which should address this.
(If not have a look on the Samsung site as it might well have this, or even an updated version that you could download)
Are you using Windows Media Player to play them, cos as a guess I'm thinking the camera is saving video in a format you don't have a media player codec for. Quick and dirty test would be to download and see if that makes a difference. It'll handle most video formats right out of the box and worth having anyways.
If it plays in VLC it's a codec issue. You'll either have to see if you can change the format the Samsung's saving them in, or download the Windows Media Player codec relevant to the file format. Something like might well do the trick.
As Nelliekins said, it sounds like a video codec issue.
Windows Media Player is whats known in the trade as 'total turd' and Videolan (VLC) is commonly found on many laptops in media world, as it plays back most things you chuck at it (including DVD's, which Microsoft try to charge you extra for playing).
If you're still stuck after trying VLC and the codec pack suggested, drop me a pm as i work in media production i have various tools to find out exactly what format audio and video is in if the normal utilities won't tell you.
Just checked Browning"s profile...mmmm
Sorry, meanwhile back to the task at hand.
Have you tried going into your cameras setting and selecting defaults, most formats are standard these days, save as Avi, mpg4.
Or as HnS pointed out, read the manual and load the drivers.
If your still stuck, you can pay for my flight to Standstead, I'd willingly sort the issue out on a One to One basis lol.

Downloaded VLC, works brill !!
Next question, if I move videos to my desktop and then burn then onto a cd, will it play in a dvd player?
Cheers guys, I stuck the video in a dvd but my dvd player would'nt play it.
Ive found it easier just to watch it via VLC.
