Robbie has to be the ultimate entertainer - and he's pretty damn sexy too! One of the best concerts I remember was Leftfield at Mancheser Academy. I couldn't see a thing but the music was electrifying. I felt it all over my body. mmmmmmmmm

...... i wasnt that impressed with James Brown who was on before the Chili's.

I agree with that one!
The really bad ones fade into obsurity after a while. I've worked at a few gigs so have seen people I wouldn't dream of paying to see. lol Bruce Springsteen was awful, even the hard core fans were a little jaded about it. Swan Lee (a danish female artist) was awful too.
Seen far too many excellent bands to mention as I love a good festival! My favourite will always be the numerous times I have seen REM. They never fail to give me that concert high buzz and adrenaline rush.

Not our favourite band but LIVE Muse were simply awesome

Ooh I am desperate to see Muse. They probably are my favourite band. I've heard they're amazing live but keep missing them...
Haven't been to many gigs but was great to see Metallica at Reading (mmm James Hetfield...) and love seeing Marilyn Manson (although I wish he'd get Dita to perform at his shows!). Saw Alanis a long time ago and really enjoyed that but prob cos I loved her... rolleyes
Goodies;
Brucie in Sheffield, Prince (oh fantastic!), Reef, Terrorvision, Sum 41, got to say Metallica, and a little gig last week at Sheffield Uni with a selected three peeps from here wink Jim Diamond/Snake Davis (ta all!) , Joe Louis Walker at non-pots in Sheffield and lots and lots of times Frank White (So good I would work the bar to listen)
Baddies; (bear with me on these confused teenage years and all that)
Wet Wet Wet, Aha, Richard Thompson and wait for it .......
Barry Manilow.
God ya do some things dontcha ya?

My all time favourite concert has to have been Thin Lizzy at Bradford St. Georges on the Johnny The Fox Tour circa 74. I've been to tons of gigs and can't remember coming away from any of them feeling that it wasn't a good show. Perhaps I am lucky. Some gigs stand out more than others - Bruce (4 rows from the front) Manchester Stadium - Stones at Roundhay Park - Manfred Man! at Penningtons Bradford to an audience of approx 250. Bobby Friss at Daytona Beach - Thunder/Frampton/Purple front row Manchester MEN.
We are going to see Queen plus Paul Rodgers at Brixton Academy next month which could be also be a highlight.
Were they bad concerts though or just embarresing to think back about?
I went to see steps, the gig they put on was a good one, but it's not in my top ten list because the buzz I got wasn't as high as some of the other's I've seen, if you get what I'm on about???
So is it about how good it was at the time or about how one's own musical taste has moved on and so perceives the concert as a bad one???

ps. poniella, muse are worth it.
Another vote for Meat Loaf! A regular Christmas outing to the Apollo in Hammersmith. Having said that I saw him last year and he was abysmal by comparison. Other goodies include Queen at Wembley and Mark Knopfler at Ronnie Scott's.
On the flip side Deacon Blue at Portsmouth Poly were Rubbish - but maybe that has more to do with the fact that I could count the crowd on the fingers of one hand!
Saw Elton John & Eric Clapton at Wembley on the same bill. Fantastic day biggrin
I haven't been to many concerts.....but back in the day Take That were fabulous in concert!!! Even then, Robbie Williams was electric on stage....
Oasis booked twice this year
Seen in last year
Paul McCartney
Primal Scream
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Rolling Stones
Happy Mondays
Interpol
White Stripes
best - U2 joshua tree tour / bowie / british sea power / muse
worst - zutons
gigs booked this year - chemical brothers / 13 senses / british sea power ,will be deffo going to T in the park again biggrin
Roger Waters at Wembley Arena, year before last, was brilliant. Nick Mason came on half way through to do drums on Comfortably Numb! biggrin Wasn't quite so good missing the last train back to Fleet from Waterloo Station (because I was staying at my brother's), & having to spend 1 1/2 hours on a station platform waiting for a train to a reasonably near station.
Worst by far was Moody Blues at Newcastle City Hall back in the 80s, when there were all sorts of problems because they were not properly set up on stage. rolleyes
Best gigs have been Prodigy, Ian Brown, Moby and Linkin Park I reckon. LP were supported by Lostprophets and they ROCKED!!!!
Least impressive was the Blink 182 gig I went to in Newcastle last year, they played all their songs way too fast like they wanted to get through it all as fast as possible, although Mark Hoppus was quite funny at the end...
I love seeing live bands, really amazing, I've also seen the Foo Fighters who were cool, the Charlatans, although I was ill all the way through, Kasabian, Razorshite, I mean Light and Electric 6 who were fun but I'm not ultra keen on them after the video for Radio Ga Ga. Oh yeah and also saw Goldie Lookin Chain at a free concert but I didn't 'get' them until much later, thought they were a pack of twats, which they are, but they're funny twats lol!
BEST..........Stereophonics, Oasis & Muse
WORST......just before Christmas saw Elvis performing at my local, wasn't that impressed, don't think it was even him confused
Status Quo - Been every year but 2, since 1977, sometimes 3 - 4 times a year....
Always a great atmosohere, always 110% fun!
Rick biggrin
Got to be meatloaf, been seven different concerts on the last three tours he has done and eveyone has been great. Fantastic atmosphere and at the end when he does the encore and the big Red Bat appears at the back of the stage, the crowd just go mad. He always does a fantastic job of Paradise as well.
The last concert wasnt up to his usual standard but he had only come out of hospital a few days earlier. Tickets went on sale today for his next UK gig which is the Albert Dock Liverpool in July. Just hope I can get decent tickets!
He is also in Dublin with Status Quo in June, but cant get to that one sad
Best - AC DC - Malvern
Worst - Ozzie - Malvern (I was a big Sabbath fan but he was fat, lazy and just going through the motions)
just got tickets to see meatloaf in july yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssss biggrin :D :D
The best gig I have been to was seeing Marillion last year at the Manchester the most underrated band of all time.
Worst gig would be Radiohead at the MEN in 2003.
i have been lucky with gigs this year...
keane, jet, snow patrol....
seeing goldie looking chain next week... should be a good one....
p.s if anyone wants my "little britain" comedy tour tickets.. they will have to marry me.. lol

He is fantastic isn't he! I saw him in Manchester and New Order were there watching the gig, he performed Joy Divisions 'New Dawn Fades' - wow! It was a great track on the 24 hour party people soundtrack but live - amazing!
the worst concert for me was the mighty QUO with t'pau as the first act carol decker was soooooo bad that she tried to blame the lack of her reaching the high notes on "china her in her hand" down to the fact that she had just got over the flu and had flown in from germany espcially for us to see her and not QUO in concert....well i' am sure you all can imagine how that went down in the MEN arena with a good few thousand hard core QUO fans in the place, they were nearly calling for the death penalty to come back. mad
But by far the best concert i have ever been to was the "freddie mercury tribute concert" at the old wembly stadium (even though i nearly did not get in but that is another story) that was the first time that i have seen grown men of a good age coming out of a concert crying there eyes out the atmosphere was sooooooo electric
worship :worship: :worship: and i will never ever forget that day for all my years on this planet :yinyang:
And the first concert i ever went to was the madonna "whos that girl tour" at leeds where she threw her knickers out to the crowd ( but i was to far away to catch them sad ) and that concert got me so hooked on seeing live bands that the year after i went to see iron maiden at the N.E.C. so i just thought i would put my little five pence in to the discusion.
bye for now love mollman :taz:
This year so far, we've booked tickets to see Porcupine Tree in Nottingham and U2 in Cardiff
Best concerts ever (mine, can't speak for S !!)
Janes Addiction at Burburry's (I think) in Birmingham - 1988 (ish)
Kiss at Bingley Hall, Stafford - 1980 (?)
Crowded House, everywhere I saw them, probably one of the best live bands ever
Wildhearts at J10 in Walsall, supporting Gun (didn't bother hanging around for the headliners, as there was no way they would have been able to follow that)
Van Halen supporting Black Sabbath at Birmingham Odeon ('77 or '78, can't remember...which seems to be a recurring theme in this post !)
Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul at Reading Festival (1983...yay, I remembered a year !!)
Live Aid...'nuff said
Loads of others, that'll come to me as soon as I hit 'Submit' !
Worst...
King (the band, not Elvis smile)... just crap
Pearl Jam at Wembley Arena...too quiet and going through the motions a little
Queen at Wembley Stadium in 1986...past their best, they'd been brilliant on all the other occasions I'd seen them before that.
Bob Dylan, Santana, Nick lowe and UB40 at Wembley Stadium in 1982/3...there's a whole day of my life I'll never get back !!
Are you bored yet ?!!;)
1976
Rainbow Theatre Finsbury Park
Van Halen with Dave Lee Roth
2nd row from the stage
'Kin Awesome and 'Kin LOOOOUUUUDDDDDDD

LP were supported by Lostprophets and they ROCKED!!!!

I was in a band that supported Lost Prophets a few years ago before they'd properly made it. They were great live. Their first album's awesome, but I worry that they're going to commericalise a bit too much now.
Best live gig i've ever been to was Donnington '95. I was 16 and it was my first proper gig - Metallica, Slayer, Therapy, Machinehead, Skid Row and loads more. Absolutely awesome!
By the way, this is Tris, the half of Poniella that doesn't post much!
