Not surprised, prob crashed with cash strapped council tax victims looking for a windfall
i was hoping to give my local council one mad
They don't have Wales on there dunno
and yes, we DO pay council tax evil
Well I've checked the link, then searched for our local coucil to check the bands there.
Without wading through paperwork upstairs, I'm now pretty sure we are paying one or possibly two bands above what we should really be paying.
I'll read up further over the weekend before doing battle with their switchboard on Monday morning.

ps - don't tell Dawnie, she'll be wanting some more shoes even before I get the money back.
I'm in band A.... guess it doesn't get any cheaper for me... damn shame that. After the tart is fighting the bank to get back his charges for the past 6 years we could have had some spending money on our hols too lol
Seriously though, bank charges are a pain and over priced. Claim them back. The site previously mentioned has all the details as does

I wouldn't mind, would distract me for a bit longer :lol2:
Look, behave, I was almost logged out then (only because if I don't Ian is going to ban my ass for 24 hours) I only came in because I needed to re-read some pms I received this morning :rascal:

Another site that gives help and advice re: bank charges
Ok I'm lost.... in 1991 my house was worth 40,000. On today's market it is worth 140,000.. I'm still in Band B. Would I lose out terribly? Hasn't most peoples house prices increased! I'm very confused! confused

Ian would be making me a brew but he has to fix some stuff on my car, like the door handle that came off in my hand and the handbrake redface

No... the council tax bands were set in 1991 when the value of your house was £40k. No matter how much the value increases it's still supposed to be in the £40k band.

Thanks for this link Anais, we've been stung by ridiculous charges before and know of someone is constantly being charged.. this makes very interesting reading. smile
Already succeeded in getting ours downgraded a band a few months ago before this article surfaced.
We got ours downgraded years ago when they put us in band B and we should have been in band A
Wales isnt included on that site because the valuations and bands were re-assessed in 2002 or 2003 I think, gave council the change to put massive council tax rises into place
My house was re-banded this year due to no fault of my own and i went from a band A to a band E mad ffs
I found out 4 months after buying it with a bill thro the door in april that part of it was on buisness rates! And as i bought it from a deceased's estate i dont have a leg to stand on regarding the fact i bought it as purely domestic and wasnt told of its tax listing. So changing the out buildings from comercial to domestic pushed me up the bands to the same amount i would have paid if it had remained listed as it was before.
nicky
Ours had to be re-assessed for banding purposes when we moved in, because it had been extended during the time the previous owners lived here. Think we'll have to take their word on it, as it was done less than a year ago.
