I know we've all had a hell of a time dealing with the changes but credit where it's due, they do seem to be listening and the software seems to be getting more stable every day.....even the postcode problem for advertisers is starting to show improvements........the fog of postcodes is miraculously clearing and I can start to see real places!
With a website like this, which means so much to so many in different ways, it's almost impossible to please everyone straight-away, but I can see signs that SH management are listening.....let's keep our fingers crossed the momentum keeps up and we get a site that continues to mean all things to all men ...and women... and TVs, CD,s, bi's, couples...
well for what it's worth i think the site is excellent now.... credit where it's due.. keep up the good work.
It seems to be very fast now, very fast indeed.
The photo ads will see the most increase in speed.
So is the search function working on ads again now? dunno
Just checked... computer says "No"

Nah Judy be fair
The Admin Team HAVE listened to all the Moaning, the whinging , the complaints and the site IS IMPROVING. They have worked round the clock under very trying circumstances for very little thanks.
So I would also like to say Thank You Guys publically.
Steph

Where was Judy being unfair? dunno
Your post should be quoted the next time someone asks what rimming is.

Burtman posted the thread (I believe) with an intention to acknowledge the work put in by the admin team over the last few days which I thought was a nice thing to do only to be told (maybe tongue in cheek)there are no mods vacancies - where was burtman asking to be a mod? perhaps I should have put the wink emoticon in Postie but I didn't how remiss wink
Judy knows I think the world of her but I also like to acknowledge people who work to maintain this site.I have had no false promises from the admin team and I have not seen anything other than what they promised happening.
Steph
You mean to say they promised you this shambles? Was it in a private pm? Just for you?
Steph the place is a mess, the ethos destroyed, the community split, commercialism is rife, there are prostitutes in the chatroom posting up http's to pay for sex sites,, the chatroom is overrun with numpties, the threads are broken , you have to give your personal details, people being pm'd to hell.... did they promise you that! And... it isn't a swingers site anymore.

No one is claiming it is all hunky dorey Judy all thats being said is an acknowledgement of what Admin are trying to get done as soon as they humanly can.
This aint hero worship this is common decency to guys who have gone without sleep so that we could have the site running (we ain't paying for it so where is the harm once in a while of saying thanks?)
Steph

sorry steph, but admin are fixing things they broke in the first place, implementing changes they made solely for their own agenda. don't see why they should get any kudos for that. course thay wanna fix it sharpish, cos it looks a bit crap charging people for a site that don't work? :dunno

i seem to recall the odd promise, about how they respected the site, and wanted to protect what we had, cos they knew what it was like to be part of an online community and feel a bit protective of it, and a bit precious about our little corner of cyberspace.
don't recall any mention of them things you said though? dunno
i did have a rant about the new chatroom, hinting at something quite important, about how respect for women is central to the swinging ethos, and how there's little respect whatsoever in there at the mo, but frankly i couldn't be arsed typing it all up! ;)
oh FFS you can't even get a simple bloody post to work right half the time!
neil x x x ;)
Good point Celestria hun hehehe lol wink

Rimming = Licking arsehole.
The activity where one person takes their tongue to another persons anal opening and flicks their tongue about.
Also known as brown-nosing, rimming, tonguing the chocolate starfish, sucking up, kissing ass, likcing ass, etc...

Thanks Steph, you got me right. I just thought we'd had so many (quite understandable) whinges, that I'd put in a word for the guys actually listening to their customer and starting to put things right. The last thing we'd want is for them to get so fed up with us they treat us to like it or lump it. It wasn't an attempt to suck up to them (or even brown nose!) and I definitely wouldn't want to be a Mod Judy - it's far too hard a job, like herding virtual cats!
In the spirit of balanced comment though, I do think it was a mistake making changes without apparently consulting with representatives of the various communities ...... nor recognising, as indeed many of the members on here fail to do, that there are three relatively distinct communities that use the site - the chatters, the adders and the forum folk.... putting them all into one big membership pot was a great idea if you are tidy minded, but destined to have about as much success as putting Club 18-30, a bunch of naturists and Saga all in the same hotel!

He has only just reg on the forum so how would he even know how the forum operated on the old system??? or whether it was better or not. Unless he was a previous member with another name. If he was then he would have a reference base, otherwise he wouldnt even know.
Judy

Judy, I have been a member of this site for over 2 year and I do happen to know what the "old system" was like.....not just the Forum, but the other areas too. There has always been a view from the forum that you're not really a proper member unless you're a regular contributor in it.......where do you think all those 300,000 members came from? Do you really think they have all suddenly rushed in to pay to join now it's a paysite!
Well, I will finally start to give the admin team some credit when they sort out the total fuck up of the PM system. I have over 800 previously deleted PM's that have magically re-appeared in my inbox. I either want them all removed for me, or I want the mark all/delete all function back again.

300,000 members havn't rushed to come on this, currently one legged and limping along, forum. The figure is the amalgamation of everyone registered on the forum , everyone who ever had an ad and the chat room as well (which now is also linked to another chat room of their sites).
Just to comment how fooked up this forum is, the quote box shows OK in the preview but not when posted.

Sorry Steph
Yes I can see and know the work involved, but "for little thanks"???
The MODs get very little thanks
The Admin get a big fat pay cheque

The system your praising says you joined the forum a couple of days ago. If this information is wrong then blame the system. if its right then you have not got experience of the old posting system ???????????? you tell us which it is .... rolleyes confused:
:P Judy

Judy.....I don't make a habit of lying and I was praising the new team's efforts not the new system!
I have been a member of SH for over 2 years, but had different logins for ads and the forum......when the changes came in I chose to consolidate under this name, so the forum shows me as new........In fact, it's always been the same - you could be a member quite happily using the ads, but the moment you sign into the forum you get accosted as a newbie - that's nothing to do with the technology, that's just the way some forum members choose to react .

Darwin once said something along the lines of… “it is not the strongest nor the most intelligent of the species which survive, but the ones most adaptable to change”
Whether we can see the need for change or not – change will happen, it is a fact of life.
People may cry that the changes will bring about the death of the community. But a community is not a ‘thing’ which can be taken away by someone else. It dies only if the people within the community no longer relate to the connection, otherwise it continues but evolves and adapts. Just as in the same way some years ago swinging was considered to be a ‘couples’ only scene or lifestyle, organised and arranged through newspapers adverts, personal columns with coded messages and so on - swinging evolved.
There may be people here who no longer relate to this community as they have fulfilled a need elsewhere or even gained new status in an alternative community - so will happily announce the demise of the place they once treasured, as it no longer holds the same value. There may be others who wish to hold on to the nostalgia of a past time – all be it a recent one. The reaction of those within a community has just as great an impact on its survival as those who change the environment.
It is however worth noting that environments naturally change at a slow and subtle pace. Changes of a large scale which come about suddenly are likely to bring about the same reaction as a ‘natural disaster’ or an ‘act of God’.
Disasters and dramatic acts of God cause the native inhabitants to panic and retreat to safety. If the effects on the landscape are too great and the environment can no longer sustain the community, then the community will instinctively act to survive – maybe in pastures new!
So, OK, there has been an earthquake, followed by a flood with a bit of lightening striking here and there. Should we not let the waters subside before we declare whether the soil is infertile or not?
Mildly related thought:
Someone not too many decades ago said computers would never catch on.
There is no point in trying to kiss God's ass - God is an entity, so there is no actual ass to kiss!

So what has been your forum login name for the past 2 years ??? Not my fault you decided to change it from confused: whatever it was. We don't have a crystal ball or the ability to guess who you were so inform us.
Mine was JudyTV....Still is. I had nor have any need to change it just because its a new system.
Judy................Still JudyTV.

Err point of order Judy, But there WERE usernames that would no longer work with the new system (you cannot log in with these names) our old Him'nHer was one of them. I called the SH help line and got them to change the name for us so that we would have continuity with posts, important to us as we are still relatively new and want to go to some munches early next year.
I know others didn't bother and just went ahead and re-registered.
