I had a headlight blow on me a few days ago. Not a problem...........I'll fix it tommorrow.
Tommorrow doesn't come though........does it people.
Tonight.........at 70mph on the M42...... my other one decides to give up the ghost
Did you know that you can't see the white lines or cats eyes at 70 mph and with no headlights.........I didn't.........till tonight. However, I am fine and no damage was done. But it is my sad duty to report that my underpants will never get back to the same colour again.
Another discovery tonight...........adrenalin is brown, smelly and runs down your legs redface

did you not try using your parking lights? or using your full beam? (not ideal, but better than driving in the dark at 70mph!) as i know on my car, there is a different bulb for each of these options.
Regardless, glad to see you made it back in one piece! otherwise we'd have to set up a dogging recruitment session to replace you!
And a torch that you can stick to your dashboard? smile

Sat here.........with the benefit of hindsight..........the advice above is great.
However, at the time, the only thing that came to mind was.........

Full beam should still work, different elements, and use fogs for low.
Know the feeling hurtling down detling hill last winter main control fuse blew, no side lights, no main beam, no dash lights.

Just a note, the second bulb often blows because you havn't replaced the first one due to the way they are wired. that's why people with one working light have one brighter light generally. you know all service stations sell them too?
I'm not helping at all am I? :therethere: :therethere:

Lots of horn and hand gestures are what I use in that situation!! And people wonder why we get road rage rolleyes
Hehe, well sure you learned why good old halfords sell emergency light bulb kits for your boot now... I knew a copper who hated one headlight cars, then again one nearly killed him as it looked like another motorbike heading his way and turned out to be a car with one headlight... Cost him a few months in intensive care that bulb...
Still mate at least you not injured and got it all sorted, can't ask for a happier ending than that smile
I always carry spare bulbs, only costs a few quid and could save a life!
Sorry, does this make me sound like a girl guide type of girlie?? Oh well im a mother and us mums are always prepared (well we are arent we mums?), hence why also in my boot are map books esp for Herts and Manchester, a blanket, a torch, a pop up tent confused , condoms and babywipes  biggrin
