Seems we have a few people passionate about this fabulous little car & it seems whenver you speak to people they always at some point in their life had a Mini..so lets talk Mini ....
Jaine

I had a Mini Cooper S - 3rd car I owned.
Hiya Jaine - hugs, Alex x x

But this is dedicated to the Real Mini so we cant discuss that German imitation....
1977 I had a Mini as my first car, cost me 70 quid
Nearest I can get to this topic is being in one with three other mates nearly 20 years ago and taking a 15mph right angle bend (centre of Hodnet, in Shropshire, if you're curious) at nearly 40mph and feeling two wheels lift beneath us on one side like one of those stunt runs - hands on ceiling and heart in mouth..........
.....such a blast !
Up until that point I'd never really "got" The Italian Job and all the Mini related fuss - I did after that !
Carpathian
My first car was a mini. I bought it from my Mum when I passed my test. biggrin It was a P reg, can't work out what year that was redface It was white, I remember it very fondly.

Sorry folks, couldn't bear them! (guess that's just lost me a lot of friends).
Couldn't drive 'em in wellies because I kept 'fouling' the ickle pedals. also, any puddle above 1/4 inch deep immediately soaked coil and distributor, leaving the little beastie marooned and screamin for WD 40.
I used to go shooting in one, sat on bonnet and careered around fields picking off rabbits in headlights.I much preferred the '1100'-anyone remember them -I had 3, great little cars.
I'm still very tempted by my cousin's old set-up...
A red 1973 van, with a red trailer made from the cut-off cargo section of another mini van.
Wonderful!
Art dearest I dont really think they were made for farmland type stuff to be honest....& they were well known for loathing water.
But the miles & fun I had in mine & YES you can do it in a Mini...
I had everything from an 850cc to a 1380 fibreglass Domino model & had stage 1 - stage 3 kits on them..Am definately gonna get another one as I miss them so much...
By the way mine is the white one in the photo called Molly...the others were called
PK
Black
Thumper
Red
Ben
& a MGB gt called Mogwai biggrin
Despite my venerable age, I have never actually owned a mini, I did drive a mini van on odd occasions during the 1960's. Knees around my ears it was so small.
Having said that, the nicest mini I have ever seen was that worn by DebsUK at the Midlands Munch last weekend. lol. Not so much a mini, as a pelmet cover. Wow.

It's always more fun being on the winning side.
George Armstrong Custer. 1839-1876.
I remember the 30th birthday party at Silverstone for the Mini which was superb as we all lined up around the track & there was some ridiculous amount of Minis from every country...I know it broke the record for the largest gathering of one make of car...had a terrific day & at the end we were all allowed to do a lap of the track...took hours as there was about 30,000 cars I think...In the end they let us use the fuelling tanks to fill up as so many people were running out !!
Jaine xxx
I've got a red/white automatic cooper sitting outside i've not drove it for months i keep meaning to get rid of it but i sorta wanna keep great around London its just like a go cart.
As a very sickly boy in the corner this thread has brought a smile to my weary heart, then when I started to think of the amount of times I have nearly been killed by minis I sort of feel worse
The first mini I had was a 1979 1000 now that I took to a track day and left in an ambulance after the steering seemed unwilling to co-operate sending me into a wall
The next one an 1981 1000 with stage 1 had been done up by this nutter who had ripped the interior out put a roll cage in and painted it black with white stripes up the centre and had a devil painted on each door-it was named el diablo and it was possibly the most terrifying car ever
The best was the 86 1000 that I bought to do up-my god!The driver door used to open at will, I shall never forget going up the M65 at 60 leaning out of the car trying to catch my door! The carburetta stuck open fully occasionally meaning I would involuntarily accelerate at break neck speed for no reason!
Anyway I feel very ill after that and I need a nurse - any volunteers sad
I have never had a car but I like the film Italian Job the orig. the mini from that looks fab the new mini is just so big next to it. Having sex in a mini hmmmmmmmmmmm I would just like to be albe to have sex in a car let alone a mini.

Me Me ..
I remember driving down the North Circular once in Edmonton when all of a sudden my seat went to one side....looked down at 60mph to see the road beneath me & the chair leg hanging out the bottom....Oh dear....floorpan needed a slight weld confused
Another time I picked up a new boyfriend for our first date, went to a pub, all going swimmingly ..on way to his house took a bend at about 60 spun, hit a concrete bollard, took out a tyre, spun to other side, hit another bollard & finally came to a standstill up the kerb with two punchtures!!! Did not see him again funnily enough biggrin
Oh well.....
Jaine xx
My first car EVER was the old mini... I got it from a local post office owners daughter...it sounded a bit rough...in those days you never really did the full spec, if you kicked the wheels, and banged the bonnet and hood and a clump of summat did not fall off underneath it was ok. Imagine my suprise to find it had a mini cooper engine fitted, about 300cc more than it should and a twin webber...it was like **** off a shovel.
Unfortunately I blew its brains out on a run showing off to a young lythe lady friend!
Oh Jaine I don't think there is anyone I'd like more to mop my brow right now biggrin wink
As for the new mini-pah! Remind me of VW Golf I'm too old skool to accept changes
The ultimate white knuckle ride the mini
Simon goes back to bed-feeling better knowing that Jaine is mentally mopping my brow!
Ah fond memories of every year having to weld on another set of sills and the corner bits by the windscreen. Not to mention the fun of the drivers side window glass falling into the door and through the rusted bottom section onto the road - as i'm sure we all did, eventually ended up with a car that was more filler than er ...car really smile ah happy days!
I am almost ashamed to say that I have owned twelve minis
My favourite of which was a 1380 clubman full rally spec whith which I won the midlands road rallying championship twice in the late eighties
I was also verf fond of my little blue cooper but unfortunately I barrel rolled that into oblivion
Dont be ashamed I am proud of you... biggrin
I miss mine so much but no spare garage or cash to get my van.... sad
Thankyou for those kind words moist.
my first ever mini was a van and I loved it. Rallied it autotested it toured Europe in it ... cried when I had to take it on its last journey to the scrappy. I am getting all tearfull now
so there really is a SH Mini Owners Club !
this is too good to be true
If you happen to have mighty minis by chris Harvey there is a picture of mine on page185. mines the V reg and I am in the passenger seat so you cant see me... lucky you lol
blimey - now that is a claim to fame (for the car at least), I'll look it up.....
no such claim for me as my mini is currently sulking in the garage after blowing the head gasket/dropping a valve or whatever it is they do when they stop talking to you. and this after I spent a fortune having the bodywork restored after some b*st*rd drove into it on Christmas eve as well !! mad
anyway, it would be fun if there really was a SH Mini Owners Club and they had a stand at Mini in Park !!!
