well this is from mr disco, bbw in my opinion is not a necessary term that should be used for a female to describe herself...........women are the caring, tender and sensual form of humanity doesnt matter whether they are skinny or seriously obese, what matters is that they know who they are and if others dont like well..............TOUGH,u are who u are,a woman not a classification, be yourself and not a title
mrs disco telling me to shut up hehe
BBW are three letters that stand for the perfect excuse to feed you a one-liner reason for not being bothered to find out what kind of person you are underneath the outside layers.
BBW are three letters that attract you to some people because they have a delusional image in their head of what you are like and so want to shag you immediately without wanting to know what kind of person you are underneath the outside layer.
BBW are three letters that I don't identify with as my self perception is higher than to burden myself with the millstone of labels that I feel are un-needed when I have a photo on my advert anyway showing exactly what I look like. Folds n all.
Love me for me, not the label on the side of the tin.

I see fat as what we have excess of, - we're not made entirely of it! - but again, this is where other people's attitudes come into it - because those who see fat as unattractive/unsexy, usually only see the 'size', they dont see the heart or the soul, they see the outside excess fat and it clouds their perception of the actual person.

Surely we all have our physical tastes that cloud our perception of how attractive we find the other person? I think it's a bit unfair to label people who aren't attracted to "fat" people as in some way particularly shallow.
This is what makes me feel uncomfortable by the term "BBW" - it often seems to be used in a way that implies "if you don't find me attractive then it's YOUR fault". Personally I find that sort of attitude much more of a turn-off than a particular body shape.
Can't we just accept that we're all different, and that we all have different tastes, rather than trying to judge people based on what their particular tastes are?

at risk of throwing myself back into this thread head first.....
I hate being called FAT. I may be fat, that's a given, but it comes down to self-perception.
'Fat' is a derogatory term used in name-calling or self-piss taking (usually done before anyone else can do it for you)
'Fat' implies obese, unhealthy, unattractive, unsexy, low confidence, unhappiness, low self-esteem.....it reinforces stereotypes that fat or big is bad and underlines negative body image.
I may be 'fat' size wise, but in attitude I'm a BBW.
Labels, like em or not, can be negative or positive, necessary or unnecessary, but I'm sticking with mine.

well someone calling you a BBW is still calling you fat!
the part that i highlighted proves my point, you say that people only see your body shape.. well what is labelling all fat people as BBW doing? it saying that your body shape is the one thing that defines you!!!!!
you are NOT beautiful because you are fat!
you are beautiful regardless of it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quote by froggystyle

You "larger" ladies may have an issue with your size.... some men find that attractive.
So, it takes all types........

err no..............................
we have settled on the word FAT now!
dont let the side down!
IMHO, the term BBW is a politically correct description of fat women within the subculture of fat admirers to emphasize their confidence, sexiness and attractiveness. The attraction and beauty is defined by their pleasant appearance, charisma and charm. Personally, I do not see anything wrong with the BBW label. :smitten:
if they were confident they would not need to be told that they are beatiful BECAUSE they are big, they would believe inside that they were beatiful because they were them!!!!
so what about the fat people who are dpwnright minging? what about the ones who would look better with a bag over their heads and have no personality at all?
how can you generalise so much by saying that because people are FAT that they have a pleasant appearance charm and charisma?

EXACTLY!
SOME fat people are attractive just as SOME skinny people are attractive.
everyone is different.
maybe i should start up a group of linke minded peopel who have a big toe smaller that their second toe.
because i am parranoid about it i am going to start calling us the beautifull toed mutants (BTM) and anyone who does not think we are beautiful because of this is shallow!!!
i TELL you .. anyone with a large second toe must be beautifull by definition!! rolleyes

I didnt say that if someone is not attracted to 'fat' people that makes then shallow. You're misreading my point. Some people just dont like 'fat', it's their personal preference, and that's fine. Others have such an issue with size that sometimes that is all they see.
This is what makes me feel uncomfortable by the term "BBW" - it often seems to be used in a way that implies "if you don't find me attractive then it's YOUR fault". Personally I find that sort of attitude much more of a turn-off than a particular body shape.

If people dont find me 'attractive' (in a sexual sense) because of my size/ shape etc then that's their preference. It's not a problem to me. If people dont find me attractive as a person because 'size' is all they see, then frankly I just dont care anyway! rolleyes
Can't we just accept that we're all different, and that we all have different tastes, rather than trying to judge people based on what their particular tastes are?

The 'BBW' themed threads/ debates/ discussions always bring out the best in people  - because we do all have different tastes etc. There is no right or wrong 'preference', we're all individuals. In the same breath then, if I choose a 'label' I personally am perfectly happy to use for myself, I dont see why it should be such a problem for others to accept that I use it and accept that "BBW" is how I percieve myself.
Some people might just see me as 'fat' - that's their opinion and they're entitled to it. I see myself as a BBW, and I'm entitled to that opinion too. We dont have to agree on it! wink, nor should I be judged by others because I choose to use it. banghead
Did somebody say BBW?!?!
Can't believe I'd missed this thread for sooo long!!!
My (very simple) take on it is this: BBW's are generally fantastic people. I personally find them attractive (but always have had a thing for larger ladies and larger busts).
I accept that some people don't share my view...but thats just fine - more BBWs for me!!!

much prefer the term CURVY
I used to be size 18 and have got down to a 14 but goal is a 12 wish i was happy with weight but its a woman thing rolleyes
to all those happy with weigt be it thin or curvy good on ya biggrin
However you label yourself, surely it's very important to be honest?
I know I'd much rather someone saw a picture of me and decided than meet me based on a lie. I know I'm fat and I say so. Rather get ignored for that or turned down than meet someone who thought I was smaller and them say 'fuck off fat bitch OR fuck off BBW'
would say a bbw is someone who is big and proud of it and not afraid to flaunt it. Some large women have low confidence but I go to bbw clubs where the women are much more comfortable due to the fact they are with other bbws. Also men who admire them, though I would approach a bbw in any environment if I fancied them
beauty is in the eye of the beholder......and each beholder eye's are different! :rose:
at a size 14-16 and 5ft 8 i don't think most would call you BBW although some who know may say you are beautiful!
i was off work for 15 months and i pilled on the weight, i became a size 20-22 but i am now back to size 16 (just) lol , i would call myself big but beautiful? although i have put on an advert BBW this is so people would know i am no stick insect and therefor we all know where we stand! wink
although with most men i have meet they tend to think of BBW meaning ....a size 16-18 up with a very big bust size and the bigger the better!
i like to say curves

You have missed the point. I did say that it is the "subculture of fat admirers ( or FA's)" who describe fat women as such. This was no generalization. You may disagree with that but what a boring world it would be if we all liked the same things. Everyone has preferences. If one has a preference for blondes for example, it does not mean they like all blondes. People can prefer fat women and set their own definitions for what they find attractive and charming.
I don't think anyone thinks all big women are beatiful, just as all slim women are not beatiful, i think as i have said b4 BBW is a term used by guys who think big IS beatiful not that all big women ARE beatiful, and as so many woman have said its a tearm they use to let other know that they are over weight, they are not saying...hey look at me arn't i a stunner!!
I could be wrong thats just how i see it bolt

pics are always best anyway as size very much has a lot to do with your height, i have a friend whos a size 18 but cause shes about 6 bloody foot she does not look over weight, so you can't always go by dress size, it is best to just show pics, or meet at munches etc then people can decide if they like you or not without putting labels on ourselves wink
Ok - I've avoided the thread but as you keep bumping it I couldn't resist.
I think the term BBW depends on how it is used, I like it if the person really means Big Beautiful Woman - but I hate it as a euphermism for Fat.
To explain, having met Darkfire I think her "BBW with attitude" is an excellent description and makes me smile. Also I have used the term myself to describe someone when I really meant all three words.
On the other hand it sometimes seems to be used by women in a depreciating way - as in I am a big so you'll only be interested if you go for big women. For me this seems negative, I like larger women but I also like slimmer ones. It is a lot more about the individual than what dress size they are.
There are people I have met having only chatted to them and who I knew I liked before I met them and would have liked them regardless of their looks.
Roger the Dragon cool
A lover of big women who I find beautiful but not because they describe themselves as BBW.
