I was listening to the radio this morning and they played a new song by a band iv never heard of ( ok im old so no big deal there rolleyes ) it was really rocky and metaly and sounded quite good .
It got me thinking , where are all the old heavy metal band’s . you know the ones with the long hair and the “ Denim an Leather” what are they doing now ?
Bands like
KISS
AC/DC
SAXON
MAGNUM
GIRL SCHOOL
MOTOR HEAD
ZZ TOP
POISEN
MOTLEY CREW
RUSH
I still have all this on “ vinyl” and listen to it now and again an still love it
Make’s me want to get the old Leather out of the loft and shake my head lots  lol and let’s not forget the making a fool of ones self playing the air guitar and drum’s :giggle:
So people all I can say is
LET’s ROCK
sillyhwoar: denim and leather! and the buckled boots... more of a soft rock chick myself tho, prefer the likes of Scorpions, Meatloaf, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Guns n Roses, Journey aaaah the list could go on!...
I'm with you Serch, where did they go? All we can do is leave the vinyl in the loft, get them on DVD and blast them round the house!
In fact, think I'll go put one on now! lol
not forgetting
Led Zepplin
Tangerine Dream
Deep Purple
Rainbow
yep were old too well me more than baz wink

What about..
Alice Cooper
Aerosmith
Black Sabbath and of course OZZZZZZZYYY Osbourne!!
"Heads down lads... see you at the end of the next tune"
In all of these posts, we see the names of the bands that we grew up with, but we wonder... once they do disappear into the headbangers ball in the sky.. who or what will replace them??? We can't think of any new 'Supergroup' that could fill a stadium, they all seem to be 'arranged' boy/girl singers nowadays..
ahhh stop the planet, we want to get off...

sadly theres alot of bands nowadays that fill stadiums despite them having a talent transplant at birth ie westlife (one of thier concerts was voted as the best of all time- who wants to help me track down these voters?)
Oasis seem to be the only band that fill stadiums nowadays....Iron Maiden did a good job recently. A band called incubus filled a canyon, now THAT was a good show x

Whats wrong with Westlife. How long do you have?

Got to agree with you on the 'talent transplant' remark! Take away all of the 'washing' that is done with these new groups and you will be left with the sound of cats in pain!! (recall Victoria Beckham being caught miming at a 'live' concert!!)
We took a look at the big names of our youth and apart from those that many people have posted here (great minds guys and girls!!) you had the likes of
Rolling Stones (all bloody pensioners now!)
Genesis
Pink Floyd
ELO
Cream
Doobie Bros
Eagles
Lynard Skynard (spelt wrong no doubt!)
Amongst many others..
The common theme running through all of these bands in this forum posting is the power and longevity of their music. Todays stuff has all the strength of a warm Mars Bar..
Jeepers.. I've just realised that I sound like my father 30 years ago when I was trying to explain Led Zep!! :scared:
Still "Keep on Rockin' in the free world!"
do they still have the " Monsters Of Rock" at Donington?
someone should orgonise an SH day out there could be fun wink
Denim and Leather would be the order of the day i think
don't forget..
Thunder
Blackfoot
and Sercher you should come to Rock & Blues  although I tried that on here last year and there was very little interest (10) dunno
Monsters of Rock (Donnington)died a death way back in '96 hun, but is back under a new name 'download festival' - not quite the same thing
in edit: Monsters of Rock as was is now at Milton Keynes Bowl, apparently :dunno:

Good idea though.. could be worth a flight over!
As Jethro Tull put it.. "too old to rock 'n roll, too young to die...!"
Hey.. I've just noticed, no one has mentioned Meatloaf!!

Lynard Skynard (spelt wrong no doubt!)

I have two tickets for Genesis at Manchester this year innocent There was a rumour going round that Gabriel may turn out - I am keeping my fingers crossed.
As for Skynyrd, no vowels in the name. I remember when half of them died in a place crash, I wore an arm band and top hat to school (Skynyrd fans would understand why), god the argument that I had with the headmaster that day .....
I saw them with Deep Purple a few years ago. Purple were crap, but Skynyrd really rocked the place, truly awesome how they got the crowd motivated.
Even some of the biggest names have problems with crowd participation. For instance when I saw Dire Straits, I almost fell asleep.

Well.. with the demise of the monsters of rock, we think a SH 'Headbangers Ball' should be sorted!! Loads of great music and everyone dressed accordingly!! cool
(quickly runs into bedroom and desperately starts serching for 'those' jeans whilst praying that she hasn't lobbed them into the bin... aha, found them...
sound of struggling and swearing... "strewth, these have shrunk like hell whilst the've been in here")
we all seem to have very similar tastes in here as regulars, look at the post about missed concerts:

i was a heavey metal nut in my time and to be honest i still have all my records, and still happy to listen to Led Zep and AC/DC when the mood takes me.
