Did/do clowns scare you?
they never scared me :eeek:
Are you sitting comfortably?
Then I shall begin ..............
I was 8 years old, it was my birthday and all my friends were at my house for a birthday party ......
We played pass the parcel and pin the tail on the donkey ............ then there was a knock at the door and the "scary clown" entered the room!
I ran upstairs screaming!!!! My Dad tried to bribe me with all sorts to get me to come downstairs .......... but ............. nothing could get me out of the bedroom!
The clown left .............. I went downstairs ......... but I have never really forgiven my parents......... I was terrified!

When I was a kid I knew that there was a THING under the bed. I don't know what sort of body it had but it had a clown's head and an arm that could reach right up and over the side of my bed.
If I were ever careless enough to leave my leg or arm over the side - even just poking out a few inches - it would have grabbed me and dragged me under to - - - - god knows what end.
If it was hungry it could peek over the side of the bed and the only way to make it go away was to be asbsolutely still, not even the movement of my breathing must show.
I think Steven King had the same problem, cos that is what is in his book IT.
I still can't sleep if my limbs are hanging over the edge of the bed. Clowns are essentially scary - I don't know why people let them near kids.
I can still remember being terrified by a couple of clowns at a children's party when I was six years old. Clowns never really appealed to me later on either.
This seems to crop up often of late... not here but in conversations... even recently on tv in shows like frasier etc..
Never heard of anyone being scared of clowns before but obviously many many peeps are... Feel sorry for them, as for me never have been, nor anyone close I know..
Maybe those movies... (can't think of the names) sparked it off in some????

Hate clowns with a passion, I don't find them funny but never really found them scary until the film "IT" was shown on tv....
Not sure if I don't like clowns because I don't like slapstick comedy either and that is the type of comedy that clowns embrace.......
Clowns are really scary :scared:
I used to have a clown rag doll thingy as a kid and it got carried about with me everywhere as a security blanket type thing....but.....I have amnesia as to what happened to it and as to why I find clowns so scary now....what did my clown do to make me so scared of them and where did he go??????dum dum duuuuum....
Oh and whilst I am on the subject Stephen King did not help with my fear as far as therapy goes.....Title of a book for me should be " Feel the Fear and run like hell"....
:boo:
The clown doll in Poltergeist started off my fear. I don't mind usually just now and again when they look a bit creepy - same thing with some masks and statues.
The "Blink" episode of Doctor Who terrifies me.
For anyone who doesn't know what I mean - they are statues that start off looking like this:
I've seen that episode 3 times and it still scares me
I am cool with clowns.
The only thing that I don't like that is clown like is the laughing man puppet thing in the box at Blackpool pleasure beach. (I am not sure if it is still there)
Otherwise they are lovely and I have several ornamenty type clowns in my house.
now i dont mind some clowns and other clowns scare me, i dunno what the diffence is between the two, but some im ok with and some i hate, but then i am strange so no surprise there lol
for the clown fans amongst you, The Devil's Rejects is on ITV4 right now... recommend it
