Distance - is it a passion killer?

I often see stuff on adverts and profiles that say "Prepared to travel" and then some that say "cannot travel."
Now, I know there are sometimes practical reasons for not travelling long distances for a meet but do you think distance per se is a passion killer?
Do you automatically discount anyone over a certain mileage away from you if searching for a playmate or reading PMs or responses to adverts?
How far would you/have you travelled? Can you sustain a long-distance arrangement?
I can't accommodate at present so always travel to meets. I've travelled as far north as Newcastle way and as far south as London and pretty much all points in between. I'm not averse to travelling.
What say you, good forum folk?

I am more than happy to travel about an hour for a meet but a lot of ladies/cpls see this as some kind of desperation that I am prepared to travel 50 or 60 miles ...
If it were to be a weekend kind of thing with me stopping in a hotel or whatever then I would travel much further

I drove to Bristol once from Herts for a shag and he didn't show! rotflmao

I did a Bucks-Tyne & Wear thing for 9 months before eventually moving up here... the sex was good at weekends during that 9 months but the petrol bills and new tyres on the car weren't biggrin

We've sustained a long distance arrangement for over 5 years now- and absence makes the orgasms stronger. :twisted:
At the moment, he's an hour and a half away, and we see eachother for a couple of days every now & then. When he comes here though, it's strictly as a family friend. For the first three years I'd only see him over the summer season when I'd go & crew with him, in the winter, months would go by without a meet.
The distance means that when we do get to spend some time together, it's very full on. There's no opportunity for boredom to set in. We often comment that one night, we'll sleep together & not have sex...but not tonight :rascal:
We're spending a long weekend in nice surroundings together soon...and I can't wait. We may even leave the bedroom for a few hours... rolleyes

No - not a passion killer in itself.
I've crossed two continents for love, many trips to Newcastle for what I already knew would be excellent sex, a couple of hours on a train for a devastatingly dirty Frenchman ...
I wouldn't make a long journey for a first meeting though ... I figure I'm worth being travelled to ! cool

I've travelled several times for meets - a couple of very horny nights in Worcester but sadly he's gone all vanilla confused

and another a little further away I'd rather forget!
Thankfully my regular guy lives fairly close and I've met the most wonderful couple only an hour drive away :twisted:

The way I see it (maybe old fashioned but hey) is that as the single guy its down to me to make a bit more effort.....Same with paying for stuff.....I expect to pay when taking a lady out for the evening...
As I say.....Maybe a bit old fashioned but thats how I was raised....

i made the mistake of believing sh mileage when i told perky i could be at hers in an hour.....two hours later and still on the a55 rolleyes

was well worth it though considering where we are now smile

Distance isn't an issue for me... or maybe that should be my view of distance maybe slightly different for coming from a bigger country....
so when i think of the distance between new york and philly which I use to do.... I use to consider that basically next door... and that was a hundred miles.
roughly the same distance between london and bristol... or sheffield and newcastle... or birmingham and liverpool
but is seems that people are more fixated in the uk because it is a smaller place so the distance thing seems larger

I travelled 400 miles once just to deliver a pc and fix a pc for a good friend on here and I would do it again.
Never got anything in return and never expected anything either.
OOpps!! tell a lie she made me a hamburger on her Barbi lol.
I will always travel to meet nice people and always expect nothing when I get there.
This place to me, is not about meeting people for sex ,but rather, meeting people who I hope to be friends with for life.

We always said that we would never " entertain " at our house, as we wanted to keep this side of things separate from our home.
We did travel 80 miles one night to meet a couple, which as it turned out was a great meet.
The journey there was great but the journey home at 4 in the morning, was a bit of a drag. It meant one of us could not drink usually me, so kind of took the sting out of it. That does not mean I needed a drink to either meet or perform, it just is a kinda social thing.
Now though we " entertain " at our house, as it is easier that way. I can have a drink, and when the meet is over the only distance I have to travel, is up the stairs to bed. lol

When we used to go to a swingers club in Brighton, that was about 70 miles, and sometimes we left for home at 6 or 7 in the morning...a real bummer.
Our preference now is to stay at home, we find it works for us, but we have traveled and that has also been good allbeit a pain sometimes.

For us to travel any kind of distance for a meet the other person/s would have to have a profile that suggested they were actually going to turn up. Certainly wouldn't do it for a new member. Time out to us is quite precious as this time and we cant be arsed to waste it driving miles for nothing. When things are guaranteed we dont mind traveling at all biggrin

Drove from Bristol to Wigan for the munch once, sadly not possible these days sad

As for those that will travel thats not a problem and in some aspects preferred. Someone we met with once before was far too local and that caused concern and some other problems. Having a bit of distance can be good it in that respect.
