Do you believe in life after death?

I am on Day Off ........... I had big plans to do the housework, go shopping, cook the old bugger something nice for his tea ..... etc etc.......... but
I have been watching Johnathon Edwards on Tele since I got up.
I cant move away from it........
For those that havent seen in, he is a medium. He has just done loads of readings for different people including names and dates....... I am amazed!!!
Do you believe? Do you think there is a life after death and that they can communicate with us?
Sam xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I've always believed there are spirits around us ( I saw a couple of ghosts when I was younger ) but didn't think these mediums were anything more than charlatans until I took my Mum to see Tony Stockwell. He actually spoke to my Mum about my Dad and he was so spot on, it was spooky  He even said about Dad calling all that a load of hocus pocus ( which were almost his exact words! )
It was televised on Living TV last year.
He's excellent though I do see Derek Acora as entertainment rather than accurate.
Hi Blonde, I don't know what to believe. I've been to see mediums in the past, I've been to spiritual churches also and I'm still sceptical. Apparently my "third eye" is shut which means in the spooky world I'll never really 100% believe.
Shame tho, it's very interesting! wink
Ghosts are something i've always believed in. I've seen things before, often very clearly but they have always been gone within the blink of an eye. I personally believe that the idea of there being nothing after death is insane, something that is there as strongly cannot just dissapear, it HAS to go somewhere, but where?

It's that belief that keeps the whole illusion of life after death going. Most people are so self centred that they cannot imagine the world existing without them.
Personally I think its a pile of poo. The world is there before you are born, you live, you die and there's nothing else.
The concept of heaven and hell is an invention of organised religon to keep the peasants in line. So that they will be rewarded in the next life. This means they will put up all kinds of shit in this life. Keeping those in power in power and keeping everyone else under their thumbs in hope of some kind of reward after death.
Sorry no ghosts
Sorry no heaven
Sorry no hell
Just here and now.
Just try and imagine it, it's easy if you try.
It is physically impossible for something to be there and then just dissapear, it HAS to go somewhere.

Are you suggesting we are somewhere before we are born as well?

Without appearing too heartless and callus....
The body after death goes in the ground(or cremation) and in time decomposes.....
I dont see why this is so hard to grasp Drew dunno

But how can you know? I'm not disputing the fact that you believe it, but how can any of us possibly know whether there's an afterlife or not? dunno
I like my beliefs as they are (in reincarnation, and the soul learning a specific lesson in each life) but I don't know them to be true, and I couldn't argue that I'm absolutely right because I have no proof. I do think that everyone is entitled to their own beliefs though, without having other people's beliefs shoved down their throats as "the only right way" confused
We all know how babies are created, so we are all there to some degree even before we are born. What i'm saying that the thing inside of us that makes us who we are has to go somewhere when we die, even the body goes somewhere, it decays and is broken down but it is STILL there.

Without wanting to speak on Drew's behalf, I want to answer this from my own point of view. I don't think there's anyone who doesn't grasp that the body is either cremated or buried, but what about the soul? I think (as stated above) that the soul goes on and comes back again in a different "shell" (body) in order for the soul to learn a new lesson. So yes, that also means that the soul is in existence before we're born, as well as after.

Assuming there is one :dunno:
Lets be fair......You cant disect a human body and take out the soul and put it on a plate so its something that has to be believed in once again.. confused
Bodies break down because they are eaten by bacteria and small organisms, these small organisms poo (habiggrin)so what they have eaten (us) goes somewhere then. We never dissapear completely.

so then, as the world's population grows day by day.. where are all these "extra" souls coming from :dunno:
Is someone forming an orderly queue??
Can you arrange your next placing, like cash for peerages?
You live, you die.. and that's the end of it.
bluddy 'ell.. Mallock and I agree on something
We have personalities and something within ourselves that makes us our own person, when we die where does that go? it has to go somewhere doesnt it x

In life, you pass on your personality and teaching to others....
In death, you are remembered for what you were.
That's the only explanation I can offer Drew
but its NOT a explanation x

So Drew,
What are we discussing the body or the soul. You seem to have argued both continue after death. I agree the body just changes state after all it is only made of the things we eat and breath.
I don't believe I have an everlasting soul.
I' don't believe I will be rewarded in an afterlife for all the good things I have done.
I don't believe I will be punished in an afterlife for all the bad things I have.
I don't believe I am on some kind of journey, learning leasons in each life.
I am not religious man and this all smacks of a devine plan.
I doubt there is anything I can say that will make you change your mind or that there is anything you can say that will change mine. :D

The caps are used to emphasize (sp?) a particular point. rolleyes

I agree whole heartedly, I don't think there is a reward for afterlife, I don't think there is even an afterlife to be honest.
I think all the heeby jeeby ghosty thing is a matter of personal experiences and opinions. Although if I was to be regressed I reckon I would have been a serving wench in the 1700's!.

 I agree :D
As I said in my original post, I like my beliefs as they are. I'm fully aware that I could be wrong, but if I am wrong, I won't know anyway because I'll be dead and that'll be that lol If I'm right, I probably won't remember in my next life anyway (I don't consciously remember anything from my previous life/lives now)
It all boils down to the fact that as humans, a lot of us need to feel that we're doing something worthwhile. My own view is that some of us need to also feel that death isn't then end, and that belief brings us comfort and stops me personally from being afraid of death. I'm not saying I don't fear dying, because if it's slow and painful then obviously that does scare me.... but death itself isn't scary smile
That all made sense in my head dunno
I dont know what I believe ........... sometimes I think its all rubbish ......... then something will happen and I change my mind.....
If souls dont exist why arent we all the same? We are all made of the same bits ....... so something must make us different? dunno
As for mediums .....I dont know ........... the guy on the tele this morning was giving the audience names and dates and asking them NOT to make it fit but only respond if it meant something ..... it was truely mind blowing to see.
Its so interesting to see other peoples points of view.
Thanks kiss
