Advice? Read some other threads and you might notice that it's a common problem and you have to live with it. You might also notice that it's not a good idea to come into the forum moaning about the ads.

The good news is you're doing nothing wrong. Your ad is very specific in a relaxed, friendly sort of way. It's not accompanied by the kind of pussy pics that virtually invite cock pics in return.
The bad news is, as freckledbird says, you will have to live with the dross that comes back. There are a lot of x-rated Homer Simpsons out there, whose thought processes begin and end with, 'mmmm, pussy'.
You can delete their pm's without a second thought.Can I, though, encourage you to reward 'near-misses'? These are the people who actually read and tried to give a civilised response to your ad, but you decided not to pick them. A simple, polite 'thanks, but no thanks' goes a long way to encourage people who do try to make an effort.
I don't think you deserved the tetchy tone of freckledbird's response, IMHO. People should not be discouraged from seeking advice about specific problems they are having. A problem shared...

It's likely that a lot of the people contacting you with PMs saying they saw your ad haven't seen it at all......it's just become a very commonly used line. Personally, I wouldn't encourage you to "reward" the near misses when your ad is asking for a such a specific interest!

If you have pics on your ad.. they have no interest in reading the writing... They look... and yes... copy and paste... I no longer have any ads on because i was sick of getting people mailing me and not reading what i was looking for....
Its just 1 of those problems that will always be around im afraid

Here's an example:
I wrote an ad on SH looking for dogging couples.......I got inundated with PMs from men who either wanted me to watch them masturbate or to take me dogging. You could view that as a near miss as they want to go to a dogging location and wanted some kind of sexual activity - but the fact remains that I was looking for a couple to watch not a man and my ad stated clearly that I was looking for a voyeuristic experience and not participation so nobody sending PMs misunderstood my meaning, they simply chose to ignore it!

What I meant by the term was someone who fulfilled Adam & Becky's specifications to a T (or almost to a T - for example, might not be into watersports), but Becky took one look at his photo and said, 'nah, don't fancy him'.
Your definition of a 'near miss' is what I'd call a 'country mile'!
