I know we haven't posted many replies on the forums but the few times we have once the reply is on I look at it again and think "thats not what I meant to put". It always seems to have changed the meaning once I hit that submit button.
Is it just me or does this happen to others
confused
(I even posted this one in the wrong forum) redface
You have an edit button on the right of your post, so should you need to amend it, you can without putting another post in. Also, if you post in the wrong forum, just ask one of the Mods and we can scoop you up and put you in the right one without you having to retype everything. I have also deleted your posts in 'dogging' for you.
we are here to help lol

I know exactly what you mean.
Or do I?
The trouble with this medium is you have nothing but words. No voice tone, no facial expression, no body language, no peheremones, nothing!! There's so much more to communication than words, and anything I write can take on any of several meanings when accompanied by non-verbal clues, but you can't have those here so you have to guess.
More often than not, I'll write something pretty much as I would speak, hit the submit button and then think no, that doesn't convey what I meant properly. I would guess that I edit about a quarter of my posts for that reason.
In the future, the internet will move from the PC monitor to the holodeck, but for now, we're stuck with 2 dimensional, partial communication and we just have to try and make the best of it.

Ice

I know exactly what you mean and I've only been here 2 days! I've just deleted (quite a long one) of mine thinking "What was I thinking". Generally I think you've to allow people to interpret what you you mean. Hereabouts it is usually done in the most constructive manner. passionkiss

They're useful up to a point, but not entirely reliable: A fake smile in real life is never convincing... it simply can't be done, but on a computer screen, it's a doddle, and some of the most scathing hateful stuff you'll ever have the misfortune to read will be accompanied by round yellow cartoon faces approximating cuteness.
Me, a cynic? Yeah, right.
Well - go f**k yourself Ice Pie
biggrin
So it's not just me then smile I feel beetter about that, I'll just have to use that "edit" button more often and sit the pondering even longer over any replies
Thanks
