I listen to a really really mixed bunch when I'm driving "short" distances. Aerosmith, Tracy Chapman, Bob Marley, Scissor Sisters, Dixie Chicks, Prince......the list goes on.
Really long distance drives however- such as the 12 hour stint back from the Alps at christmas, require Bob Seger and the silver bullet band.
"Turn the Page" and "Roll me Away" should be compulsory for any would be bikers too :thumbup:
Led Zepplin, Canned heat, Lynard Skynard, The Who, The Eagles, Uriah heap, ACDC, Judas Priest, Evanescance, Nazareth Oh a 'kin hundreds more in that vein. Saying that it ain't worth listening to unless its listened to LOUD!!
My CD player is bust so I have the radio on.
Weeks back I was driving though driving rain up the M6 past Brum - it was so hard I could hardly see, spray everywhere, it was dark cos of the clouds etc. And on the radio came the Dieseree (sp?) from Verdi's Requiem - full choral, huge orchestra belting out like the day of judgement had arrived. FANTASTIC.
picture the scene...
you're in your weapon of choice;
Mine, for the purpose of this fantasy... is once again a VW Split-Screen 1966 camper... rack on the roof (no pop-top on this journey).. the bus is slightly lowered.. in the back I'm running a Porche something-or-other.. the tank is full... the brakes are good. In the rear, below the furniture, the speakers are indeed very, very large.
The Bus was packed last night.
I'm rested. It's dawn.. the roads are quiet, very quiet. It's the beginning of an early summer day.
And I've had my coffee.
On the entry road to the Motorway I see clear lanes... not another vehicle in sight. The windows are down and fresh crisp air is flowing in... a slight mist still clings to the lowland and birdsong is sharp, clear... new.
Speed is picking-up as I straighten the Bus into the middle lane of empty carriage-way.
I click and continue to build speed as the jangly bit goes to work on my excitement at the journey ahead... when the intro finishes (and you'll know the point I mean... I hit some form of 'overdrive' and the road vanishes beneath me.
I'm driving into the sun

I gotta say if u can get a nice clean best of chuck berry its a wonderful driving vibe. Wtach out tho cos a lot of the compilations are thin.
I think for me, its different music for different roads and moods,but if I were to pick one, purely for clear country roads, then it would have to be Race with Devil On Spanish Highway, by Al Dimeloa, it gets me going every time.
