I've been getting quite a few emails from SH members with attachments. I'm in the habit of immediately deleting without opening anything I'm not expecting, so please, if you're going to send me attachments, would you let me know first. Thanks. biggrin

Smart thinking Ice, especially as there was a new worm released on Sunday..... I think I have had about 50 emails at work containing it and AVG has killed them all....

I once got a virus that passed itself on to everyone on my mailing list without me knowing, got me in all sorts of trouble, so I'm a bit paranoid now. I have AV software of course, but I still don't trust anything unless I know what it is beforehand. I'm not suggesting that anyone here would deliberately send me anything malicious, these things are very stealthful, so I don't want anyone to take it personally, I'm just covering my arse. biggrin

Very wise. It'd be quite possible for a virus to find this webpage, extract your and my email addresses from it, and send you a virus with my address as the alleged sender - or vice versa.
I get literally hundreds of virus-infected emails every day - none of them have ever "got" me, but it's gone past the point of being funny now. sad

If anyone is thinking of sending me an e-mail - please do so!!!
i endorse the wise thinkers - for a couple of months now email viruses with attachments are being sent to my circle of friends via other friends emails! The friend doesn't actually send the virus itself, the hacker is doing that (how low can you get?), but it makes you think it's an email from a genuine friend. Most of them are zip files with a single line like 'your data is attached' or 'read this!' etc.
crickey we are just ordinary group of friends; not a big bank or other instituion; where do these people get off?!
i wouldn't open an attachments unless I was really expecting it, and if you're not sure, email the person and ask if they sent it.
tiger cool
your not being hacked by a person but by the virus.
yeah, maybe I've not been very clear, but that's what I meant - it's not us doing it to each other etc, but the virus smile what I meant was a person created the virus in the first place to do this, and thats sad mad
or is it a stroke of genius if they owned a virus protection company?
i love a conspiracy theory dont you
