Sorry but I have to ask this of our Jocko and Taffy friends, why do they hate they the english so much that they want us to loose? Personally I would want any UK team to do well unless obviously playing against my home nation. Would love an answer se7endriver

Unlike religions, sport makes much more sense. Quite frankly sport is more important than religion to many people as you can truly believe it.

My prime reason for not giving a crap is that i dont like football and all the bullsh1t that surrounds it, If the English team were to admit defeat and take it on the chin rather than cower away and make up excuses for their result it would make it a little more bearable...............................but they cant.
David James blaming the referee for standing in the wrong place, or the FA for not providing him with video coverage of zidans free kicks - wake up sunshine you didnt save a cracker of a free kick......................thats the bottom line why cant he just admint he was outdone.

Anyhows, It's not that we dislike the team or the players. It's the OTT media that gets up our noses. Sometimes I think they have to remind themselves especially the TV people that they are infact broadcasting to the whole of the UK. I understand supporting your team and all that but when there is a game on that doesn't involve England.....Why is it they only talk England?????????? What about the teams playing??????????
Then there's the hype. Yes England are a good team. Are they best in Europe or the world? No. So why is that already people are talking about finals, revenge and all that nonsense when you haven't won a game yet......on that note, don't count your chickens, I predict a scoring draw (dodgy keeper)
There are other reasons......but I prefer to stick to those ones!

Firstly se7endriver I can fully understand your views on not being able to take things on the chin, but to be honest was not just refering to football in my original question, as I beleive the "axe to grind" relates to any sporting competion/tournament that england are involved in (Rugby World Cup).
I like most of the english public was ecstatic when the scottish ladies (sorry forgot the names) won the curling gold medal in the olympics, but strongly beleive it would not have been reciprocated by the scots if it had been an english gold medal?

Luke warm i was 100% behind the England team in the Rugby world cup and went to the pub to watch it too. I was only supporting them because Scoltand were non contenders and i genuinely felt thet the England side were a good side and were not overselling themselves.
I take my hat off to them beating the Auzzies in their own back yard and keeping their cool and composure when it counted.
Its not English sport i dont like, its English football mentality, and all this harping back to 1966, thats bloody38 years ago and they are clinging on to it like it was yesterday. But having said that English teams tend to rate as one of the most arrogant nations in my opinion and its often not justified! I know a lot of it is down to the media interpretation of events and the media putting pressure onto the national teams, but some of the live interviews just stun me by how they can be so up themselves and big headed as not to honor the skills of a better team but instead blams thngs like the ref or the FA or the type of hair conditioner they used last night lol
