If this turns into the most boring thread in SH history, blame the guy I now share and office with cos it's him that got me thinking about this subject rolleyes wink
Anyways, when we moved into our office, said colleague.... I shall call him "Pain In The Arse" or PITA for short, said that he wanted the window seat.... for the view blink ........... of the boring street outside FFS :uhoh: ......... PITA looked sad so I said of course he could have the desk with the view  ............
Now, PITA is a bit nutty (he thinks I'm a GOTH FFS evil ), but I have been thinking about views ever since dunno ..... For example, I have found that I like to look out of my front room window and watch the railway line.... :eeek: ....... perhaps not surprising for an ex train spotter redface .... but I really do think the view from my window is really quite lovely    and very relaxing.... though perhaps living within feet of the main line between Glasgow and London is not exactly everyone's idea of relaxing :uhoh: .
Other views I like include looking out of the breakfast room window of a certain hotel in the village on to Sackville Park and the surrounding buildings. I find that view quite quaint in a leafy urban sort of way :silly:
I'm not one for the lovely landscapes..... but maybe I will learn to appreciate those too with time :dunno:
So...... if I haven't bored you enough already..... what are your views on views? smile Maybe you bought your house cos of the view? Estate agents love to plug them, don't they? Maybe you holiday at a certain destination cos the views are lovely? Maybe you just like a certain painting or picture cos it depicts a view that you love?
Am I really bored enough to submit this post....? Oh yes..... lol
WOW - you're a view person!!
I've been sitting here looking at a picture I took of Grisdale Pike just a few weeks ago. It was the view from the back garden of the house I was staying in (along with 12 other people) for a weekend of walking and booze. Wish I were there now!
I'd post it but can't for the life of me remember how!

That was not boring at all.....it...had...........my..............complete................attention

when I lived in the uk, It was my bedroom window over looking helvellyn in the lake district :P .....
now I'm here, it over looking the old part of the city, rather nice occasionally, biggrin
at uni, overlooking the most disgusting kitchen from my neighbours evil , mind you the mum was rather fit :P
I'm a bit of a town clown. I so loved the view from one appartment I lived in, in South Africa.
27 Floor lounge window over looking the the city and the bay. God I loved those lights shimmering on the water at night.
Use to stand at my window looking out at other windows wondering about other peoples lives. Now that is sad!

surprised and you left that to come to the uk confused: banghead
:P well there is always a reason :P ......just make sure the one in Fiji has the same view, just lower down, with no one else in the bay
Guess I'm a people watcher rather than a view appreciator, cos I just want to know more about what makes him a pain in the arse??? rolleyes
personally, i love views - but not so bothered about the 'watching life go past' views, i prefer landscapes - i want to go to iceland for just that reason biggrin
i can understand preferring a window if youre stuck in an office all day - if only to make you feel a lil closer to the outdoors! - i'm lucky in that way being a driver, get to pick my route as i see fit, so pick the ones with the nice scenery! lol

Yes... how can you tell? lol
Another view I used to love was when my ex and I used to drive over Belmont late at night years ago............. pitch black apart from all the lights from the surrounding towns.......
Back then I thought they looked magical dunno
And no, I was very sober
Earlier this year I slept in a snow hole in the Cairngorms Mountains in the depths of winter.
When we left the hole at night we were well above the clouds and the stars were just fantastic. A view to remember without a doubt.
I love views I could..err..........sit and look at them all day wink

Lower down in the wall, or a window on a lower floor hun? wink
A while ago, myself and a "friend" decided that outdoor activities were the way forward, and decided to try anywhere and everywhere, getting more and more daring.
We decided a certain hill with a tower on it in the Manchester area needed to be conquered, and it duly was ( a few times)
Anyway, the view is not normally all that spectacular (not bad, but not great).... but we had been there so long, we decided to sit and watch the sun rise over the valley and towns (inc Manchester);
On this occasion, the view was spectacular - and stays with me. Need to see that again!
On my only ever skiiing holiday(unfortunately) I stayed in a hotel room that looked straight out to a wall of mountains only a mile or two in the distance . It filled virtually the whole vista apart from the elctric blue skies that greeted its summits. The mountains , save for scattered rocky outcrops were covered in the most dense brilliant white snow. Once walking on to the balcony my breath was quite literally taken away to find the whole mountain was bathed in the richest warmest orange glow as the snow reflected the setting or maybe rising sun( I may have been too pissed to recall which) . It was a simply stunning sight which will remain with me for ever.
Oh and then there was the hotel room at the Nautilus hotel in Ibiza many years ago which overlooked a set of self catering apartments mainly occupied by Swedish and German women ....there were some lovely sights there I can tell you wink

I love views, My all time favorite is the view across Loch Ness from the Hills above Drumnadrochit. Spent 2 weeks there on our honeymoon but haven't been back since.
A couple of recent favorites have been the view from the top of the last hill on the M11 before the M25 - The motorways cutting throught the trees with london on the skyline makes a good view. Also the view up the thames from the Dartford Bridge, london at it's best.

I find certain views relaxing, the Peak District, ladybower reservoir, derwent, strines, any high views of the beutifull countryside.
Also, when we cruised to the canary Islands, sea views, harbour lights, ( arriving and departing ) having our breakfast on a sunny morning in the top deck restaurant looking out over each town / city on the cruise, harbour and ships, it was so enjoyable and part of the holiday.
I love the view from my flat...
I live on the side of a hill on the top floor of my building and can see 20 or so miles into the distance....
This is currently what I am looking at...

Mike biggrin
The best view i can think of was from long beach on the west coas of vancouver island watching the sun setting over the Pacific
Pitty about the mosqiutos
I like views - that's part of the reason I chose to settle here on the edge of the Pennines.
Best view I ever had when I lived in London was out from the back of a row of terrace houses overlooking a gym: through the upper windows of the gym could be seen lots of gyrating females in tight lycra in aerobics sessions. evil
Sheeps Tor Dartmoor watching the sun rise
there's a campsite between Looe & Polperro in Cornwall called 'Talland Bay'. in the right spot you get to open your tent in the morning to see the sunrise over the ocean with a huge vista before you, definately worth visiting.
My more regular favourite view is the asian honey over the road, for obvious reasons
My memory is made up of views. On holiday's, journeys, even the view from my bedroom....they are all stored and remembered.
I'm really lucky to have a window seat at work where I'm on the top floor of the office and can see miles and miles ahead and all around....... I love watching the weather change, the people milling around, the clouds changing shape and speed. It's a wonder I ever get any work done!
smile
the best view i have is while im still lying in bed and wild rose is looking out the window in her short nightie, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ,,,,,,,, bed time
staggy
would have to be waking up about 6am on holiday in north wales, opening the tent flap and looking at snowdon first thing in the morning, has a certain magic about it
this is pretty much the view from my living room window... usually without the boat... infact its better without it, you can see the hills all the way up to Ben Cruachan... i cant find the pic without the boat so this will just have to do!
After considering the view you have, may i buy your house... and ur hentai avatar to sweeten the deal?
£10 and a Toffee Crisp - thats my final offer! lol

I LOVEthe Waverly - used to go 'doon the watter' in the summer sometimes.
*deep sigh*
Latterly we had friends (two gay men) in Kilcreggan (moved away now) and their living room window had almost the same view as you have posted - complete with the Waverly chugging her way backwards and forwards.
Thanks for the tug back into my past.
biggrin :D
went to the isle of wight last summer and the view from the "sun terrace" at the Waterside in Cowes is amazing, especially at night as you can see all the Lights along the coast of the mainland.
Its pretty cool to sit there with a pint next to the see a live band and that view.
