Afternoon all.
Just wondered if anybody is going to Erotica this year?
Considering going to the Winter Ball on the Saturday evening and wonder if anybody else has been? It's been hard to find too much information online... What can we expect?

hello.
we went last yeer and to be honest it was 100% rubbish. that is to say the exibition days were. the winter ball we have not heard about that, but as you were talking about erotica i presume you are also talking about the exhibitor days as well?
we had not gone for about 4 yeers and the last time it was not brilliant. the first three yeers this even was on it was great and there were so many exhibitors that they had to use both levels. last yeer they cleverly spaced things out to look like there were more stands than there actually was.
it is not worth the entrance fee and being honest i would ask anyone else thinking of going to spend the entrance fee money on something from the internet. a reely dreadful day out and very very disappointing indeed.

A small group of us are going during the day...I have wanted to go for years but never had the chance.
If it's not so good then we'll abort to the bar...from my perspective it's about who you go with as much as what you see.
A few of us are doing the ball in the evening too. We have been to another fetish ball at the same venue and that was great...so we have an open mind.
I'm not sure if there is anyone posting in the let's meet forum but there might be.

This years show is 18/19/20th November at Olympia, London.
We were at the main exhibitor show last year and had a good day shopping and browsing with our friends.
Really fancy going to the ball, but with outfits and tickets it's expense we don't need if it's not going to be something we'll enjoy.

Cheers Derek, Sorry to sound naive, but we're new to this scene, never been to any sort of 'lifestyle/fetish' club event, not even managed to get very far on this site yet surprised(, but what goes on at the ball? i.e is it fairly mainstream, with entertainment, dancing and bars (all with heavy sexual overtones of course), or is it more about the sex less about the clubbing/partying?

It sounds like you have the right idea. It's a place which has quite smart/pretty people on the whole. They tend to be open-minded, laid back and non judgemental.
The music/entertainment is normally pretty upbeat/good. You can wear what you want, although the dress code should be fancy dress (not cheesy tho), uniforms and fetish stuff. Think skimpy/risqué or latex/leather...in fact anything you can imagine...also think, "blimey I can't wear that in public"...oh yes you can there! (I once saw a guy wearing a ribbon ;o)
It can get quite hot so less is definitely better.
As far as the sexual thing, you can do as you wish. You can watch/take it all in (it's great for people watching), or you can get a bit fruity if you wish. There will be a couples room I reckon so if you want a little privacy away from the madding crowd you can get a bit. Of course it won't be that private ;o). They should have a dungeon too, so if you want to experiment you can...there may be people who can show you how things work.
It might sound a bit hardcore but it is fairly mainstream with overtones of sexuality...obviously people have their own ideas too lol. It's defo about the fun and partying, from my point of view with all the other stuff woven in...if that makes sense.
As far as this site is concerned, there are 4 areas that people like to use; chatrooms, forums, groups and adverts. Most people tend to prefer 1 maybe 2 of those. So to reach everyone you might need to use all of them...or at least experiment. Just say stuff/chat to people if you can, get to know them and go from there, maybe join some groups...and have fun...that should rub off on others lol

We've never been to Erotica before either. This we've decided though there's mixed reports we'd find out for ourselves. So we're going to the show on the Saturday then on to AbFabs in the evening which is holding a couples and single females only night.
Staying at T5 Travelodge.
Can't wait! Even if the show doesn't come up to scratch we've still got the club in the evening!

We went to Erotica 2010... the exhibition itself we thought was pretty poor to be honest... I have been going for a good few years and each yr the event itself seems smaller, and more dissapointing to be honest.
However we did attend the evening ball, and thoroughly enjoyed that! Be warned you do have to make an affort or you will NOT be allowed in. We did see a few people who had valid tickets turned away due to the fact they simply didnt make the effort in dressing up.
It's not for everyone, but we really liked it (and are regular TG goers too, so this really was right up our street)... not cheap once you include hotel, costumes etc....... but hey like Xmas.. save for it ;o)
Give it a go, make the effort and have fun!

Completely agree with Starlightcouple, you are better off treating your self to some naughty online shopping and having a good night elsewhere!. It was tacky and very samey! I wont be going this year on any year soon :sad:

We have been to the last three years, not sure if we will go this year due to other commitments .
We've always had a good time at the show itself, but as some other people have said last year's event was somewhat smaller than 2009 and 2008, which we put down to the economic climate. Looking at the list of exhibitors for this year looks about the same size as last year.
For us its a good day out and the chance to pick up various interesting "bits of kit", but ore than anything else its chance to dress up and wonder around in a public environment is some pretty OTT gear. last year for example I had Slave L handcuffed and gagged for the whole time we were there. As public play is one of our things it was really hot.
But in reality its just a shopping venue

I have to say I disagree; for us it was the 1st time we've been. The atmosphere was good, the people were cool...in fact we spent 5hrs there.
We saw quite a lot of toys/things in real life that were good/different. We got inspired by some things, too wink
Even though we missed some of the workshops, we met up with a few old friends and a few new ones too, so all good.
We'd go again lol
